Thanks Horn! If both you and Steve like it maybe the hat won’t be as difficult to flip as I have been thinking. It turns out that my wife likes it so flipping may be on hold anyway.
New to me 3X Beaver Hand Creased “Vaquero“ model. The felt and liner are nice but I’m not sure about the metallic hatband. I’ll be finding a new owner for this one.

Picked up this Resistol Dalworth today. It was a $20 hat in its day and appears to be of high quality. I’m looking forward to playing around with different creases and adding it to the collection.

Just to follow up, the technique proposed by skyliz definitely helped on an area on the hat where the felt is thick and sturdy. On the front part of the brim where the felt is thin and the cracks nearly all the way through, I could tell that more damage was going to occur so I left it alone.

Thanks Belfastboy. I’m going to experiment with a few techniques and see what helps. This is a beater hat so I’m not too concerned about messing it up. I do hope to apply lessons learned to a nicer hat that I want to keep and restore.

I have a couple of older black hats that have noticeable cracking on the felt. Besides cleaning is there a technique to repair or reduce the visibility of the cracks? I plan to experiment on the hat shown here.

I just received a hat that is a disappointment. It is a Stetson Twenty Mode Edge Sovereign in my size but it has hidden damage. The listing had two pics and no details. I exchanged messages with the seller asking about any undocumented damage and they said all was in “excellent condition.”...
