Dating Your Hat (A Place to Discuss the Age of Your Vintage Hat)

I have a poshmark account and I sent her a message and a link to this discussion. She blocked the guy.

What hat are you waiting for today?

This “white cowboy hat” looks promising and I look forward to bringing it back to its birth state.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Yes, that makes sense. It certainly looks to be integral to the hat and sewn in along with the sweatband. It is visible externally but looks very clean. I’m not going to mess with it.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thanks Randy! I noticed that there is a sewn in spacer in the front of around 2mm deep by 4 3/4” long. The circumference is 22” but it would gain a bit if the spacer was removed to get closer to the 7 1/8 sweet spot. :)

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Yes, I agree, something like the color of the sweatband could be a good look.

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I really like the color and patina of this 1950s Royal Stetson Genuine Panama. Seems like a win at $23 even if it needs a band/pug.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

I recently purchased two hats from a seller and they sent this one by mistake. It is way too small for me (ponti 5, circumference 22”) but since the quality seems very high I decided to take a partial refund and try my luck reselling on the bay. The felt is very light and soft and...

How about this? Can’t go wrong with Lee Van Cleef as a doppelgänger! ;-)

    J. Robert Oppenheimer Fedora

That is an interesting interpretation. I was thinking along the lines of “heavy is the head that wears the crown” and that Oppenheimer’s hat represented that burden which was solely carried by him (and Einstein lost the “crown“ in that scene). Knowing Nolan’s films though he probably had...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Thanks Steve! My guess is a good portion of loungers can relate to the shirt or at least know what it says .

    The Resistol Roundup

Here are three recent acquisitions of the 3X Beaver W220 HI-7 western hat in Cordova — a deep burgundy color. Brim is 4” and open crown is 7”. The felt is sturdy and shapable (with steam) as I’ve attempted to show with a different style for each hat.

    Post New Hats Here!

Another Byer-Rolnick Resistol San Antonio but I think a lower grade than what @StoryPNW has above. It has “Melorol” on the sweat but no other indications of quality except the $15 tag. The felt is a bit stiff and will require steam to reshape. 2 5/8” brim and 5 1/2” open crown. A few...
