The fit jacket was actually absurdly huge. I only ever received a "Medium" from Thurston Brothers to try on, even though I made it clear that I was a "Small" from the get-go. That honestly never sat well with me. I would love to have tried on a fit jacket that was at least somewhat close in size.
Just curious...it's a beautiful jacket, but was it made custom for you? If so, did you go through Thurston Brothers? You said "another one of my sizing mistakes", and so I'm must wondering how you could have gotten the wrong size more than once. Thanks, and good luck selling!
Yes, I ordered those details specifically. At the end of the day, though, I'm starting to feel like perhaps you and some other people on here are right. I completely agree that it's a gorgeous jacket, and so I'm very conscious of sounding like a spoiled brat right now. I think I just expected it...
I have yet to speak with Carrie about it, because I feel like these were "artistic choices" made by Theodoros upon receiving the order. I sent Carrie pics of another Thedi jacket of this same model that I saw on The Fedora Lounge, and said that I want it to be exactly like what's pictured. And...
I honestly don't know what to make of the following situation. I recently purchased a custom Thedi jacket from Thurston Brothers, and went through the process of getting sized, choosing the details I wanted, and then waiting...and waiting...and waiting...
And on Saturday, I finally received the...
My advice would be to make sure you do plenty of research first. I wanted one of these in a small so badly until I started reading all of the Menlo's bad reviews, both in terms of construction and sizing. But then again, if you've got the money, go for it. Either way, good luck!
That's actually what surprised me about it. The pics definitely make it look like the front is longer than the back, but when I had it on, it actually sat lower in the back. I'd post a pic of it that @handymike took, but I won't subject the users on this website to a picture of my ass...
It's definitely a great jacket, but my only problem was that the back is longer than the front, which he explained to me is just the way things were done in the 60's and 70's. I'm definitely glad it's staying with him, though. I know that feeling of regret when you sell something you love.
UPDATE: I'm dropping the Alkin "Model Two" price to $450 + shipping, and the Undone Basecamp's price to $275 + shipping. If you're interested, just send me a private message.
Hmmmmm...that's weird. Alright, try this one:
