I wasn't intending to start yet another thread about JFK killing hats but really was commenting on the hat that was never worn. If he was in the White house on Monday he may have donned that hat.
My point is that Lee Harvey Oswald may have changed the course of hats with his actions.
I'm in DFW extended metro area. Yesterday, on one of the many specials for this 50th tribute, the JFK kills hats thing surfaced once again. The commentator made the statement about JFK's lack of wearing hats seemed to have set the tone for men to cease wearing hats. Then they showed his...
I am Alabama born and raised. Raised in the Bear Bryant era. I knew his houndstooth check hat was ugly before I was potty trained.
Great coach but he should have looked in the mirror before he walked out of Yieldings' or Parisians' hat dept. (or was it K-Mart)
It was enough to make me toss my...
I think most wouldn't know it doesn't look good on you unless you look like you don't think it looks good on you.
The exception would be a black and white houndstooth check fedora (Bear Bryant fedora). Those have never looked good on ANYONE. Nobody would dare have told Bear Bryant that.
"our DMV bans all non religious head coverings"
I go to a Cowboy Church and we wear hats in church except during prayer (pastor wears his hat under those guides).
I guess I can wear my hat into the DMV.
James Spaders is the star of NBC's The Blacklist. His character wears nice fedoras. I get a Graham Thompson vibe from most.
Has there been any word of who his hat wardrobe is sourced from?
I did a little searching and it seems he is a hat guy and he was the one who insisted his character...
I vote blue but digital photos over the internet watched via a PC monitor is way less than an ideal color hue viewing.
What does it look like next to a known black hat or something made of black cloth like a tuxedo or a no question about it black dress or purse
Is the designation fort sandpaper different in Europe?
A hat already pounced with 600 grit US nomenclature paper would be sanded at next step with 720 or 1000. 320 in the US nom. is a fairly coarse paper with 600 being into the fine range.
The Stetsonian looks great. That is the first of their modern hats that I have seen that looks like a hat from the Stetson of old.
I have a gut feeling that someone who has knowledge of the Golden Era must be helping them these days ;)
If you are wearing low rise overly tight jeans, bright orange Kedds, you opt for a ribbon in lieu of a belt to hold up pants, you are up to 1 1/2 inch gauges in your earlobes, and the studs in nose/lips/tongue would never let you pass through airport security, and you top it all off with a woven...
If I for some reason wear a ball cap and I go to a business where I have been more than a couple of times, they will tell me I don't look normal without a hat.
I'm not too sure what to make of that except to say that I don't feel normal without a felt hat on my head.
I completely agree with Ed.
I have changed sweatbands or had sweatbands changed on a few hats. I would use a good sweat from a damaged hat or a hat I didn't wear. The odd sourcing of sweatband would create a conundrum for anyone scrutinizing the hat as a collectible piece.
The Conversion Corral...
Great photo and great hat. I might suggest you hang out in the Northwest another full week. The temp Friday was 104, today it is now 101, and it is not supposed to get too much below that level for a few more days.
Has anyone been to the Hat Museum in Portland OR?
There is a mini-article about in on Collector's Weekly page.
The other thing I find odd about CW is how many top hats are on there right now.
