I never put my hat through the X-ray. I wear it until they ask me to remove it, if they ask me at all. If they want to put it through X-Ray I then ask if they want something on their head that has been through an X-ray machine where things off people's feet have passed. They then hand check it...
I think Eric needs to come clean with us. He bought an abandoned warehouse full of brand new never opened Stetson hat boxes.
I have on more than one occasion made some cooing noise or gasp when I see your hats and had to explain my noises were due to this guys' hats on the website.
Incredible...
Guitar,
I don't think it looks vintage. If the camera were out of the way of the tie it might change though.
I'd love a re-do with the fedora worn. I think that mallory looks to be spot on for that suit.
When I was kid my dad wore his old hat like that to crawl under the house to light the furnace when the pilot would go out. He called it a "go under the house house hat". If he had fished then it might have also been his fishing hat.
I wear weatern hats pretty much all day long every day even in summer. I have gotten all manner of things horses and cattle have coughed up on them by steaming one of those hat wiping sponges (orange large cell ones) and then brushing the spot vigorously. If the vomit has oil in it then talcum...
The Hatco campus is sort of the high ground for that area so I doubt they have any worries. That being said, a LOT of places in the DFW area that were never thought of as at risk for flooding have flooded. I'm seeing turtles packing their stuff and heading west.
All the reeded sweats I have ever handled had only a vinyl tape strip folded over a solid plastic monofilament. The vinyl cloth backed tape ws in turn sewed to the leather sweatband and then the tape was stitched to the felt just at or a little above where the brim was flanged. The monofilament...
Nice Strat.
I think our compadre Matt D. must be having a very positive impact on the new hats they are turning out.
I hope the felt on that one is as nice as the felt of the Royal DeLuxe I picked up at the Hatco Outlet a few weeks back. The felt on it feels like some of the best vintage 40's...
The OP actually asked if a hat worn with shirt and tie, no coat was OK. Your answer was that "Open Road is a western hat so it certainly does not need to be worn with a suit". My point of reference is the thousands of men, some our former presidents, that wore Open Roads with suits every day...
where did you get this idea?
I would class an Open Road as a western flavored hat and its original purpose for most wearers was to be their western hat to wear with a suit. Maybe it is not a hat to wear with a suit in Maine but in New Mexico it would be fine.
It looks sort of like some of the Beaver Brand made private label hats but the sweatband marking is not one I've seen in any of their hats.
Curious.
Fold down the sweatband and see if there re labels there.
