Tops shelf showings over the past few days! A less humid in Jersey ta'day to sport a Wormser that fits my noggin in a rare flea market find. My heart leaped up! Transformed this one into a porker.
Saying I'm psyched about this Mayser on its way from Vienna is an understatement! And in my noggin size of 7 1/2? The color is a Granite gray. In the words of Carly Simon, "Anticipation is making me wait..."
Sisol Straw question: As a scholar of hat collecting and shaping, etc., I purchased a (Borsalino) Sisol (Sisal) straw and was considering reshaping the crown. Is that doable without damaging the hat? I know steam works wonders (if used correctly, of course) on felt pieces. But what about straw...
Royal Stetson Fedora turned Porkpie...Been getting in my practice of learning to reshape crowns using very little resources except distilled water, steam, and my noggin!
Had a pair! Fortunately, there ran too small! Never considered them again. Now I know why...That still small voice! Was checking on a pair of Rios De Mercedes...Thoughts? I know earlier Lamas, DPs, Naconas, etc. are good. However, as I become familiar with names and some of their styles...
Thanks!! Interesting about the skins lean more toward 'peeling' as opposed to simply being scratched or scuffed. I notices a pair that did exactly as you mentioned! No matter how careful I know I can be, there's always that one time...Yet they are lightweight and soft. I learned something...
Recent Goatskin Acquisitions...I'm in love, gentlemen!! I understand these are arguably the top of the line for Lucchese. I'm gullible enough to believe it...
Thanks Sir! With time, I will share. Thanks for the invite! As I gaze upon some the pieces listed here, some of my 'new' picks simply can't touch many of these! :) I just simply drool ash the sights! I purchased my first pair of Lucchese exotics (Caiman, Sharks, Lizards, and Goats) and have...
Hey Hurricane! Thanks so much! I couldn't tell wither. But the info you share is great to know! From my limited understanding, I look at the shaft of a boot (flat top) to help with gathering information. and from what I've noticed with most Spanish boots, the tops are flat.
Been seeing some fine vintage boots in this thread which has revived my illumination of quality and vintage Wester/Cowboy boots. It's bad enough to become a novice to intermediate fedora collector. But to now becoming a scholar among the boot aficionados in this thread is...well...humbling to...
If I may add, unfortunately for me, many of the sizes available simply don't fit my noggin. I would love to give a lounge member preference over eBay's often overpricing (IMHO). When my money tree is has its share of leaves, The Lounge is the first place I check.
alanfgag impressed me with a black vintage Western piece he sported with a pencil curled brim. One similar to it was a must have! :) I found my own. Resistol 3X with pencil curl to at least 'imitate' (for I'll never duplicate) his presentation!
