One last comment on this = I mainly bought it for my 55th birthday present to myself & it being a 150th Anniversary of Stetson BUT this hat does NOT have the 150th pin as I expected it to.
It also does NOT have 150th holographic sticker that my Excellent Stratoliner has. There is nothing showing...
Over a year later, I've finally got thru Season 4 of Longmire on Netflix. Still digging Walt's hat, 1911, holster & jacket. Not quite as much as Raylan's but close....
If you'll wear it in the original state, then don't convert it. Is it more valuable to you as is or as a felt body to make something even more valuable to you?
You buy it = you own it. Do with it as you like. I'm not a hat historian or collector. I'm a hat wearer. If I buy one, I'm going to do what I want to it so I'll wear it. If not, why bother?

A microscopic view, if you had baseline for beaver fur fibers & bunny ones, could help. Beaver fibers will be more barbed & you take samples from inside the crown. Just an idea...

Okay Ladies & Gents...
Here is my Royal DeLuxe Open Road from DelMonico Hatters. Jeff did a heck of job running this to ground.
The open crown measures right at 6" & brim at 2 3/4". The crown & brim are much stiffer than my Premiere Stratoliner, flatter flange too.
The brim is slightly thinner...
Sorry but mine is still pristine in the box. It got here just as Christmas stuff & haven't had time but for quick look at it. I'll unbox it shortly & post a review & photos.
I remove the top part of the model tag because the perforated part will eventually tear if you are as rough a hat wearer as I am.
I'd like to ask you about your Campdraft Deluxe in Bluegrass Green = "my trusty Akubra Campdraft Deluxe in Bluegrass". Hats Direct only offers the Deluxe in...
