I am taking a gamble on the black overdye myself. Looks pretty good in pics, but it is hard to tell until you have an actual jacket in your hand. I wouldn't mind a heavier cxl like the one Aero uses. I love the way that hide looks, but I have yet to handle one. Are you going with horse or steer?
Yes. I just tried comparing by hand. I would say the Vanson is a little heavier, not much, hard to tell by just holding the jackets in your right and left hand at the same time. I MUCH prefer the Schott hide over the Vanson. Not even close for me in the look and feel of the hides.
^ I would put it around 3oz if I had to guess. I was gonna weigh it today and my scale took a crap. the batteries leaked out. I'll have to get another scale and check it out. I would put it at about 5.5 lbs. Not @Hh121 weight at all. Adequate and substantial for sure though. It would protect in...
I received my new 618hh in a size 46 today. It fits a tad big. My chest is just a little over 44" right now. I might have been able to pull off a 44 but it would be snug. Plus I might gain some of the weight I lost back and the 46 has room for that. If I manage to lose another 20lbs (and I need...
Exactly what double h said. Legendary had a 15%off code that ran thru Labor day. I do believe they run a 10 or 15% off around black Friday. I just ordered one. It sucks to miss out on the deals, but it sucks to wait also. lol.
Just ordered a new Schott 618hh size46 to replace my size 48. I lost some weight and my trusty, go-to, 618 balloons up on me when riding now. I am kinda bummed because that jacket was gonna be my workhorse. My chest is measuring around 44" now but I don't think my shoulder width has changed that...
Thanks @navetsea, The jacket has gotten wet a few times and the rest is just natural wear. It wasn't a very hard break in at all compared to some jackets. Wear areas on Schott hh is a grey instead of brown. They use drum dyed leather.
I bit the bullet and ordered a new 618hh in a size 46. I...
^ I am really hoping a 46 will fit in the shoulders and sleeve length. I would try a 44 but they take an inch off the back length. The back length on my 48 works, but I wish I had another half inch or so.
@Monitor, I really hate to possibly retire this jacket because it fit so well when I was heavier. I am afraid a smaller size is gonna be off in some areas. Schott horse does break in rather quickly. Hope to see more pics of your 613 evolving.
I would have to say, my perfecto seen the most saddle time this year by far. It is just so easy to wear on the bike for me. It was worn exclusively from the late fall till late spring of this year. I have been slowly losing weight most of the year(almost 40lbs.) I had the jacket on today and it...
A few pics of my Schott 618HH. It's about 3 years old. It has been my go-to jacket for about the last year, but I haven't been riding with a jacket most of the summer.
I hear you, I am in the same boat. I've kept the weight off for almost a year and am gonna get a new jacket. Always have the fear of regaining the extra pounds. Hopefully a bad ass leather jacket like you are about to get will keep you motivated. I am not sure what a waif is. lol.
Thanks for your insight Ton. I have an overdye jacket on order also. My question is this. If it turns brown too quickly, is it possibly to have it redyed? Anyone have experience with this? What would future patina look like on a redye?
