Sounds great double h. I figured it would be easier to ship directly to the maker. Your jacket should easily weigh in the double digits. I THINK a Vanson model "E" starts out with 12lbs of raw material. Seems like they usually end up being between 7 and 8 pounds when finished.
When completed...
Looks like a great hide. I don't think you can go wrong with Horween. Are they shipping the leather to you or the maker? I would be curious as to how much the raw leather weighs. I am glad you didn't give up. I am looking forward to the process and the end results.
Who do we believe? What about Lost world's 4.5+? Even Schott claims their hh is 3-3.5oz(I tend to believe it is 3oz myself). Wasn't your 6oz JL suppose to be horse?
@Monitor, Thanks. I thought your HH 613 was new. It LOOKS brand new to me. You need to get some wear on that sucka.
I think there is about a $75 upcharge for Schott horsehide over steer. They get their steer from the States, hence the American flag.
That's my biggest quarrel with Schott. All...
Thanks Hh. I am pleased with it so far. The 618 checks most of the boxes as a RIDING jacket for me. No muss, no fuss, just off-the-rack and ready to ride.
It is getting maybe a tad easier to wear. It was leaving red marks on the inside of my arms in the beginning. lol. When I first got it, the jacket was completely silent. After about 2 days this thing squeaks and creaks like a mofo. Kinda weird, not sure why.
I noticed your 613 has an American...
Boy, this Navetsea challenge is a daunting task. I didn't think it was gonna be this grueling. I am a week into it. I basically put the jacket on right after work. I wear it about 2-6 hours on the weekdays and about 8-10 hours on the weekend.
My new 618 is not cooperating very well. I really...
@Monitor, I think I might of saw it on the Schott forum. I know the stuff Langlitz supplies is silicone based.
I am not sure. I have no experience with conditioners. One side says good, the other side says bad. lol.
@Hh121, I am not sure if this contains silicone or not. It does not say on the product description. I have heard silicone is bad for leather BUT, the stuff Langlitz leather uses IS silicone based. Not sure which one is right.
Edit: Pecards has been in business for a long time, they must know...
@Harris HTM, It is really hard to say. My old jacket is so limp and broken-in that it is hard to compare. I don't quite remember my first 618 being this stiff and rigid, but I am not sure. As far as the weight goes, that is also hard for me to tell. My scale broke and I have to get a new one. I...
Thanks for your assessment @Hh121 and @Jin431. I have never had a jacket made in Horween leather. I always admired the pics of the black cxl hh that Aero uses for their jackets. Hopefully it turns out well.
I prefer a more shiny/deeper black. I am worried the overdye will be a little dull and flat. What do you think? It is hard to tell in pics on the internet.
