This sure was a fun thread. I wonder how much everyone's top 3 has changed in a year... Here's my updated list:
1) Good Wear Bronco in russet Shinki
2) Diamond Dave Buco J-21 in black Shinki
3) Vanson Model B, black/Aero Highwayman in brown CXL
It's hard to pick between these two...
Awesome jacket and fit! You went with the perfect size IMO.
Say, I'm also located in the Netherlands; if you ever feel the need to get rid of the size 38 618HH, please think of me first :)
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'm also thinking JJ means to reset and re-envision the series. I just hope episode VIII goes in a more interesting direction, instead of rehashing previously told stories (however awesome those stories may be).
I think it's awesome your wife worked with the...
I'd ask the jacket company you're considering if they have any black over brown leathers. Diamond Dave sure has a few great "tea-core" leathers. I'd shoot him a mail if I were you.
^agree with all of the above. I chose the tartan mostly for looks, and I went with the heavyweight for added durability. Turns out it's very comfy as well. Don't worry about heavyweight tartan being too warm in the summer-- when it's THAT hot outside, it's just too hot for any jacket, period. If...
I have 2 jackets lined in the heavyweight tartan. To me, when you're spending over 600 quid on a tough leather jacket, it's worth the £25-50 (depending on jacket style) upcharge for added durability and hefty feel. I only handled a sample of the lightweight tartan and to me it just seemed to...
I'd go for brown FQHH. It isn't all that heavy in my opinion, their 4.5oz steer is a hard mistress. I've been working my Highwayman for over a year and I'm still hardly getting any results. But then again, I rotate between 3 jackets. A CXL FQHH jacket feels heavy and tough, but when you wear it...
I see! That's a really nice backpack. I'm glad the design choice worked out for ya :) double-breasted motorcycle jackets can look very cool without the epaulettes, just look at the Langlitz Columbia. Of course, you can have that made with the epaulettes as well. I couldn't imagine my Buco...
Mere words don't do justice to that stunner of a jacket you got there, A-1. Incredible... Can't wait to see fit pics. I see you requested the epaulettes to be removed, why's that?
Thanks everyone! :)
@Ralph I got the cap from a Polish hat company called 'Sterkowski', their website: www.sterkowski.com. They have a huge selection of awesome made-to-order caps and hats at a GREAT price.
