I'm English but live in the US. It would have been very easy to skip the Thurston Brothers expense for me but I'm very glad I didn't. The fit jacket really made sure I got the right fit and Carrie is very patient and knowledgeable not just with questions you might have but also suggestions if...
It's amazing how a lot of those jackets are just a variation on the Perfecto which, although not to my taste, many people here like and respect. The main difference is the expectation of someone seriously using that GQ article to buy a leather jacket. Their expectation is to follow through the...
interesting, i’d thought exactly the opposite for aging. small scratches on my russet Vicenza show through the natural leather color underneath. it’s exactly the opposite for Horween shoes I have where there’s very little aging (in terms of patina). i always attributed that to the chrome tanning.
I do like the Kensington, although does the front come to a point at the bottom? I think like you I'd get it with the webbing under the sleeve zippers. I tried on the last RMC that a shop in NY had and was surprised the length worked, although chest size was too big. I was planning on trying one...
Well I think there are multiple tanneries in Vicenza. It is a little odd that no one knows which tannery the leather comes from though. I feel like with other leathers the tannery information is proudly advertised, or at least available.
Mine's seemed fine. It'd definitely not water proof, some water rolls off for sure but some is definitely absorbed. I don't avoid wearing in it light rain but if it's pouring I'll wear something waterproof, I imagine most people do something similar.
I have a russet Vicenza Board Racer. I don't have much to compare it to but your comment is amusing since if you Google Vicenza leather it's all couches! I will say though that the dyed Horween looks like shoe leather to me and from my experience of how Horween shoes breaks in (or maybe more...
I have a board racer in russet Vicenza. I think the smart thing to do, which my wife advocates, would be to a black J-100 (maybe RMC or Himel)... but I'm tempted by the olive Vicenza or a natural jacket. Was intrigued by the CXL natural because it didn't seem as pink as the other natural jackets...
I’ve considered a natural jacket, always thought Tenjin would be the way to go. Curious why there’s excitement about the natural CXL when the natural Vicenza’s already there. Am I missing something on the differences?
Also interested if people have any thoughts on Tenjin versus there Aero...
breaking all sorts of forum unspoken rules here, raising a thread from the dead to ask an off topic question! what’s your opinion on the olive and navy? i’m convincing myself on the olive but am slightly concerned it’ll just unworn in the closet!
on the question of have any people over 6’ found a japanese leather jacket that fit, anyone find/know of anything (my guess is no, but wanted to ask)? love the flathead sky blue j-100 but the sleeves would barely make it past my elbows....
Long time lurker but first time posting. Wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or continue this one, since my question is somewhat related.
I have J-100 from Aero (in Russet brown) which I absolutely love. Prior to it arriving I tried on a RMC (but it was 44 which was too big for me, I'd...
