    Collector or Consumer?

I'm definitely a consumer of hats. Mine get worn daily and swapped out depending on my mood and the weather. My favorite hat is the Stetson Roadster in Walnut. I've been told recently that it's being discontinued. So, I purchased a spare. A few days ago, I discovered a seller with the Roadster...

Season 1 - 3 hats were Borsalino hats provided by JJ Hat's. Their store was featured in one episode. Sometime during season 3 or 4 Penman Hat's got involved.

Get in touch with the folks at JJ Hat's in NYC. They provided all the hats for that TV show. If I recall correctly, that particular hat was a Borsalino hat. I don't recall the exact model. But the folks at JJ Hat's will lead you to the right hat or a less expensive version if needed. Dave

The leather hatband on my Banjo Patterson is tacked onto the hat through the leather hatband with stitches in 3-4 locations It'd be a simple matter of snipping the threads to remove it.

Akubra hat's are the perfect entry level hats. They'll stand up to abuse from daily wear and the weather. Another option is (heaven forbid that I suggest it ) any of the lite felt hats. Once someone has a better idea of what they want, custom made hat's can bethe next step. I don't...

The best 2 inch brim hat is the one you like. Honestly, go with Akubra to start with and figure out your preferences from there.

My Banjo Patterson is amazing in the rain!! Though I had a Stylemaster where the top shrunk and really tapered after getting soaked.

How many hats do you have?

On the topic of collections. I once visited a fellow antique radio hobbiest in New Jersey. He had just reached his goal of having 100 different console radio's from the 1930 - 1940 era in his house. All were restored, working and in absolutely beautiful condition. The problem was that...

    Stetson Saxon, thoughts?

I've stayed away from the Royal quality hats as well. The Royal Deluxe felt has been great for me.

    Movie hats

Most of the attention to hat's in the movie The Searchers is on John Wayne's hats I've been intrigued by this one. The crown height doesn't seem to be as high as most.

How many hats do you have?

I'm a mere amateur with the hat count at 10. I've also got 4 flat caps. All hat's are fur felt, no straw. 3-4 of the hats are in my daily wear rotation. My hats get swapped in & out of the daily rotation depending on my mood and the weather. The only hat in my collection that doesn't get...

    Akubra questions

My Banjo Patterson was really stiff at first to the point that even if I wanted to, I couldn't turn the brims up. Now after 6 months of daily wear (5 mile hikes, yard work, etc) and a few rain storm soakings, It's really flexible and soft to the touch. The brims still prefer to be down, but...

    Post New Hats Here!

I really like this one. It's got a little bit of Whippet look, but with a thinner binding on the brim.
