Bates is the black one. It’s in their heavier / stiffer cowhide. You see a lot of Bates for sale in the lighter or mid weight cowhide. Interesting comparison and thoughts. I have no comment on the time-period stuff. When you say wear casually, you mean unzipped? Aside from lapels, another big consideration for wearing crosszip unzipped is how "bell shaped" the jacket is. I find longer crosszip needs more bell shape and leads...- Mrfrown

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?
Interesting, sounds both comical and frustrating. The angle does look nice though. I'd like to have a Crown zip at some point but I'm really looking forward to all that brass hardware for this one- Mrfrown

Looks great on you I was a hair away from pulling the trigger on one of these when a Thedi popped up in our classifieds that I couldn’t resist.
