Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Agree. I put a bid in on a battered but salvageable Borsalino straw 9 seconds before the end and some guy won it by putting in a bid after me and my internet chose that moment to go slow so lost out. It went for £21...about the same in dollars with current @!#%* Brexit exchange rate.next time I...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

It's glued. This brand existed until at least the early 80's and made menswear as well from what I could research (erm, "research" via google...)

What hat are you waiting for today?

I tried to get them to confirm but were having communication challenges (they had about 300 different kinds of high end lady's boots for sale and then a couple of Borsalino's - not her field of expertise) - we'll see and hope the price was right!

What hat are you waiting for today?

Borsalino. Seller claims it is 1960s but not convinced (any thoughts from the experts?), but we ended up doing something of a deal. I think that there is a wind trolley, but again, we will see.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I got this for $25. Shipping to Europe cost almost as much. 2.5 inch brim. Nothing special, but it doubles up for the nicer Wormser I have, but the felt is very soft and shapeable. It came in a cattle mans crease and has some moth bites, despite being told that there were none, but for the...

Could we launch another round of Fedora Lounge Akubra CD's with the 2.5 inch brim as some of you did a few years ago then if we have enough interest for a minimum order?

"Linea Augusta" Borsalino Does anyone know about this label - is it an off shoot from Borsalino? Nothing comes up in the search:

    1930s Stetson Standard Quality

I figure you will find someone who will trade for which I unfortunately have nothing along the lines you are seeking, but if you decide to sell, I may well be interested

    Akubra Hats

Don't worry, my 9 year old asked if I was a hat *collector* (with a kind of awed look). So, I cannot say that as the selection is nowhere near the standard of many here, although I probably have about 10 fedora or trilbies and a bunch of other types now. My frustration is that half of them...

    Akubra Hats

To be fair, the Fed IV did adjust and now fits me very nicely, but having that risk when shipping around the world is not great. Hats Direct did ask me my exact measurement and said they would find the closest to my size which was great customer service. The most comfortable hat I have is a...

Here are the head shots. It really looks like the crown and the brim are doing separate parties. It would be nice to reconcile them; any suggestions or is it just a brim up job?

Wonky brim I picked up this no name, Made in England straw, nice blue ribbon and leather sweat. However, when I flick the brim down, it does not stay centred but veers off to the left. Any suggestions on yow to fix this? It is almost as if the hat is not straight.

    Akubra Hats

Thanks. To be honest, when I first received it, I was a little overwhelmed. Here is me, looking overwhelmed, straight out of the box with no size tape: My wife asked me about 6 times in the first 12 hours when I was going to return it, and since when was I a Mormon etc. My daughter sprayed...

    Akubra Hats

When you say you are "East Asian" that means different things - in the UK, it means Indian sub-continent, in the US it is Japan, China etc. FWIW, I am a 6 foot, US 7-1/8 (smallish head), half Japanese, half French and the Fed IV (carbon grey) works well for me. It got *absolutely* soaked 4...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

You seem more smiley in the second set. Was there something in the hat stiffener ? Sorry, could not resist. Looks good.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Slightly off topic, but is your shirt linen? Great colour tone - where from please?

Thanks for that, I pretty much reached the same conclusion thinking to save my money for one in good condition or a custom. If it had been £20... I might have gone for it but.... I need to set some paramètres/rules or this hat affliction is going to get (more) out of control!

At a fair, someone has a 7-1/4 Stetson Open road, looks 1950s or 1960s and is asking £75, but may be able to haggle. There are 5-8 moth bites on crown and upper brim. Is it worth getting? A little bigger than my size.

Borsalino Sisal Straw Fedora - Size 62

If he can say it, yes, dapper is still and will always be a positive term: Love that Borsalino, not my size unfortunately...
