Very kind, thanks. Unknown how I caught it, but general remark was when you are in your 40's "things start to go wrong." Gee, thanks doc, that is really encouraging! :). All good, am thinking positive.
Another no hat day for me.
Thanks to all for your wishes. Good news is that after 10 hours in hospital around midnight on Friday, they concluded I did not have appendicitis but that I did have an infection with some 20 letter name. They let me go yesterday evening with a bunch of medicine and...
I was wearing a Borsalino this morning when I went to work, but nothing now as admitted to hospital for suspected appendicitis at lunch.
My wife asked me what I wanted from home so I told her to bring me a hat tomorrow for after the op, but to come and take the Borsalino home and keep it safe...
That is very informative, thank you!
I tend to agree with @Bob Roberts that the the crown is less boxy than what is seen in the US, although no less elegant. This also appears to be the case with contemporary English hats such as Locke or Christies with tapered, lower crowns.

Thanks, will keep an eye out. Main thing which is now clarified is that I have less chance of finding one in that style in Europe than in America (although many other fine Borsalino styles in Europe).

I mean the American style thin ribbon. I have a 1960's Borsalino and a linea Augusta sub. Always interested in Borsa's of course though!

Grazie Mille, Thank you, that perfectly answers my question and whilst my Latin is quite rusty (I tend to only know and not use some legal terms), I fully agree with what you say!
I will need to be on the lookout for a vintage one then (unless someone is willing to part with a 7-1/8 vintage!)...
I have been wondering if the thin ribbon, wider brim Borsalino's were purely for the US market or if they also existed in Europe - I have not seen any. Perhaps @steur and @Daniele Tanto (or anyone else) knows from their experience/research.
I know that yours Moon, is vintage, and that Bencraft...
Let me rephrase my earlier question - my *humble* apologies for being wrong, I need to refresh on Gannons... thanks for the clarification (read "education"!).
This Mossant for Sools dark navy, allegedly unworn homburg keeps popping up in my search results for the past 4 months on French ebay and is driving me crazy as I would go for it but it is 54cm and I am approx. 57 cm. I asked the seller to remeasure to be sure but it only made it a 54.5...
@Redfokker
It is labelled Sandmann which I gather was an Viennese store, but under the liner, it says Dermotta. I found it for €20 in a pile of hats. Super soft thin felt, but difficult to find the right crease.

Maybe I am a little OCD, but when someone pulls something out of a drawer, uses it (e.g. Bottle opener), and puts it back *on the counter* above the drawer and not back INTO the *open* drawer. Why not just put it back away? Why leave clutter?
OK, maybe more than a little OCD!
Nice dimensions, nice hat!
If you are heading to London, you *may* score on Portobello Road, but it is somewhat overpriced for new stuff and random for the old hats. Covent Garden has a few vintage shops Rokit and another one off Neal Street and ask for felt hats and they may be hidden...
