I bought a very nice condition original N-3B off eBay recently, size XL. I think it's the original version of the one Real McCoy's base their replica on (1960 Skyline model). No idea how it will fit but it was worth a shot! Will post pics when it arrives. If it doesn't work out, there will be an...
Thanks guys. Sadly confirms what I suspected! Does nobody make a long/tall version?
I tried on an N2-B clone in H&M the other day and really liked the style. It's a shame nobody seems to focus on reproducing historically authentic nylon jackets outside of the Japanese makers.
Is it just me, or are all these N2-B jackets REALLY short in the body? I'm looking at XLs that have a 23 inch body length which seems incredibly short...I usually wear 27.5 or 28 inch back length! :O
Well, I decided to return the Silverman's jacket. Whilst it was nice, I found the orange lining to just not be to my taste - I've never found it a good look even on historically accurate jackets. I also didn't find the jacket warm enough to justify keeping, particularly since I've got other...
Well the store I bought the original one from has just messaged me to say that the item I purchased had actually been sold a few days ago, so no jacket for me! Oh well.
I guess you're right. I would have thought that the current trend and demand for Canada Goose / Moncler stuff might have led...
Thanks Edward! I think both the black and green ones are fine colours for general wear. Comparing the details of the Silverman's and the Alpha Slim N3-B, you can see that they've basically ripped the design of the Alpha off completely - right down the rubber details on the pocket corners and...
That's super cool, Greg. Looks fantastic! I don't think it looks too big.
It's like a cross between a B-15, one of those German Eastman ones and a B2 - look at that collar!
Silverman's jacket arrived this morning (now that's quick shipping!). For £49.99, it's a damn fine jacket indeed. Sizing in an XL fits me perfectly, even at 6 foot 3. Sleeve length is spot on. The orange lining is my only point of contention really...not sure how I feel about it. It's not a...
Agree regarding Alpha. I saw their stuff in Selfridges Manchester a few weeks back and it seemed pretty well made stuff, but with very little historical attention to detail which was a shame. Clearly more aimed at the "hip hop kidz" than people like us! I guess they know their market well...
Thanks for the insight, really helpful. I must admit, whilst I’ve now managed to find some original jackets in my size, there is a certain degree of trepidation that comes with buying a jacket from the 60s/70s that may no longer be as functional as I need it to be.
Real McCoys make a superb...
Has anybody ever tried
Sounds pretty good for £50. Interesting about the sizing, sounds like it could be pretty trim...are the Alpha jackets any good? They look okay.
Still think getting an original would be cool...just trying to find one in my size and in good condition is not so easy!
Edward, do you still have this Silvermans jacket? It looks like cracking value for money. How does it measure up for size?
EDIT: Crikey, just realised they're on sale for £50. Seems like too good of a deal to miss...https://www.silvermans.co.uk/products/silvermans-n3bs-parka?variant=4839204419
Nobody seems to chat much about these round here. Does anybody have much experience buying vintage or issued versions of it? Any good repro makers you could recommend?
I don't know what size you are BigJ, but I have a 45 inch chest and as you saw a few pages back the size 46 was excruciatingly tight on me. Almost like a 42! If you're a true size 48, you'd probably need a 50 based on how tight the sizes are...I've asked for bigger sizes too but they weren't...
We would all get along better if everyone wore sheepskin jackets! :D
How is your search going? Are you any closer to making a decision? The sheepskin bug caught me once again as I've just placed an order for an Eastman D1!
