They're pretty cool! There's a bunch of electric skateboard and unicycle things popping up around here, but the Onewheel has the most cool factor, IMHO. There's a go-kart tire in the middle and software/hardware to keep it balanced.

    Heritage Hats, Phoenix

I went when I was visiting my brother this past January. The owner Rich was actually in the back working on a hat while we were there. My brother knows of my hats and figured that AZ Tex was skippable after I had mentioned both hat shops. I can't attest to the quality of the work, but they do...

    Need hat advice

I don't really have an educated opinion on the three specific blocks other than my perceptions of some of John's Raiders hats above. I understand he apparently has two slightly varied blocks depending on beaver or rabbit.

There are three major sources for felt that almost all custom hatters use. Winchester, Tonak, and FEPSA. Also referred to as "Portuguese beaver" by Penman and others. FEPSA is regarded by many as the premiere felter in the world today. Their most famous client is Optimo hats. The felts have an...

Right on cue, here comes the aforementioned noise... I don't really put that much stock in that video. There's nothing verifiable about any of the claims in the video. Who is C. O'Keefe and why is this his one upload? Can you verify that's Steve's block? I seem to recall that he did not allow...

It's not at all an issue with John's workmanship per se. His skills as a hatter are top notch. Particularly clean tacking stitches and ribbon work. And to be fair, this is the kind of detail that might only be apparent from having spent hours and hours looking at the Indy hat. The "correct"...

HJ hands down. Honestly Penmans are hit and miss for me with the Raiders look. Sometimes they look great, but every now again, there are ones that - IMHO - look like a caricature of the Indy hat. Every HJ I've seen, on their insta or on COW, looks great.

Oh, I just dislike the leather hat they gave Marston. Don't think it's historically accurate.

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

I haven't kept a running tally, but if I had to guess, I think I get the most compliments in my Stetson Junior Cowboy. I was out and about doing flower deliveries today and I got a "I like your hat...especially with your glasses," from none other than EGOT winner Rita Moreno, whose birthday is...

    Pre 1940s (non-Stetson) Westerns

The Superior Hat for Bush Hat co. Dakota model. Interesting hat. What seems like the price tag is very faded but I believe it says 2.50. Tagged size 7 but as you can see, it's pretty small. The leather is still pliable and doesn't appear to have shrunk, but seems a bit less...

    STETSON 7x CLEAR BEAVER QUALITY

My 7xCB arrived, thank goodness for two day priority mail! 5 1/2" open crown, 3" brim I was actually prepared to be underwhelmed with this example, as my Stetson 100 is also a 60's model. While it has a fine and soft hand, the felt somewhat stiff in terms of pliability. This hat has a...
