The basic answer is that anytime you are buying a second hand hat, it's a crapshoot. Most sellers can't competently measure the inside circumference anyways.
Akubras are notorious for shrinkage. Check the Akubra threads, it happens more often than not.
I bought a foldable Hatco Stetson Forty Seven 'Panama.'
It was.....not great. It does fold, but the brim just never looked presentable to me.
JJ has some travel felts on clearance, but I've no idea on the quality

Don't look that old, 70s maybe? Looks like a pre creased crown. Not worth $300. Not every thin ribbon hat is a Stratoliner or Open Road, this hat has 2ply ribbon which disqualifies it from being either.
The thing us, unless it's marked on the sweatband or other labeling, we probably don't know...
Bob at Black Sheep does it occasionally as well. I am inferring from his naming of the "scorch" finish that it is one of the tools he used to turn a heathered, long hair Tonak felt from this:

JJ put the Stetsonian and Knox Kings Lane Homburg on blowout clearance. There's a handful left in sizes. 6 7/8 - 7 1/4
Good price on Deckard-era hats.
The sweatband repair will depend on the condition of the leather. Bob at Black Sheep Hat Works was unfortunately unable to save one of my un-reeded Borso sweats that also had that corrugated ventilation.
And yes, that hat is un-shaped, or "open crown" in hat parlance.
New Catalog is live now.

Excellent Quality "Pure Open Road" is nice...except for the pre-formed crown. The hat I was hoping would be in the style of the Stetson Japan repro Boss of the Plains is actually called the "Pike's...
