Definitely a vintage Brooks - Here’s my The Great China Wall painted Brooks. The artist that did these paint jobs only produced around 30-40 jackets for the company in the early 2000’s - when they were originally being sold to celebrities and high-end clients, they were retailing for $2500-3500...
I had already put in my offer when I noticed you had posted it in the Finds and Deals thread - though I started sweating bullets after I saw your post. I was nervous all morning waiting for the seller to accept my offer...haha.
I figured there might be some TFL competition, yourself included...
Hi all - it is a with a heavy heart I must sell my vintage Taubers café jacket. I picked this jacket up approximately 2 months ago. It is marked a size 44, however it fits like a 40 (maybe a tight 42). I'm 6'2" @ 215lbs - it does not fit me.
Asking $400 (includes shipping) anywhere in CONUS...
Always appreciate your insight Terry, thankya. I'm surprised you haven't seen this style Hercules, if anyone had, it would have been you - I know how much you appreciate a good vintage jacket.
That Hercules you just posted has some killer patina going on, such a wonderful looking hide.
Picked up this vintage late 60's era Brooks from the original owner this week. This jacket has the embroidered Brooks label and the not-often-seen (imo) quilted liner. It also has gold thread throughout, which gives the jacket a little extra pop.
I'm glad you guys mentioned that, I did wonder about goat - the immense amount of pebbling of the hide definitely leans that way. Considering this would be my first goathide jacket - does goat not patina/wear the way cow/steer/horse typically does? Is it as "tough" as horsehide?
Snagged this beauty over the weekend - a mint Hercules, circa 40's. It was listed as horsehide, however the Hercules label doesn't state the type of leather unfortunately. I'm hoping this a true vintage 48, and will fit like a 44/46.
Nothing better than a 60's Bates - beautiful jacket! All of my Bates are lined, how does your unlined version feel while being worn - still comfortable?
Thanks Jmax for the heads up on this piece - snatched it up. I’ve never seen one of these jackets with their actual Fidelity label still attached. Every time I find one for sale, they only have the large white “LEATHER” tag.
