I have the same issue with my St. Regis, it has been hard to crack. I have steamed the crap out of it and the crown won't budge, lol....

It is a lovely hat, I found one not long ago. The felt is very nice and workable.
I haven't seen one until Jim mentioned he had one and I didn't know the name. Another member found the information. I want to say it was Mr. Hatman.
I'm currently working with him on my new hat and he kind of told me the reason, but I will let him chime in if he wishes. I'm going to respect his privacy.
One thing I can say is he's making hats :-)
I'm a fan of the Alfred Hitchcock and Twilight Zone shows, and a few of the vintage hats I own are inspired by some of the characters in various episodes.
Two hat day. Primary's election day in my neck of the woods and went with my Gulf War hat. A bunch of American Legion brothers got together and we went and voted as a group.
Then, I went with a beautiful Borsalino. Cool day here, so it was perfect to walk the property and run some errands.
Definitely not what we are used to call "good quality", but I tell you, I have a beater Stetson Explorer that did its job in upstate N.Y. during the winter months. I used it to hike, climb, snowshoeing, and that sucker didn't buckle.
