I have several 1920s crimping irons and I heated them up over the stove. I need to get the irons scalding hot before it will even begin to make waves. I have never fried my hair, but everyone's hair texture is different and only you know what that limit will be.
Just bought the Columbia Pre-Code Collection and, so far, watched Jean Harlow in Three Wise Girls (1932). They still weren't quite sure what to do with Jean yet and you can see it!
One of my favourites, from 1927. Flapper anthem!!

The cassette tape was invented in 1962, which is in the scope of this forum. I just went off on one with the CDs and Mp3s...lol
Camera film = I'm glad to not be dependent on it. As a hobby photographer I like that I can take instant pictures and not have an unknown party look at them. Not...
We got parking meters in Philly. But if you know where to park on the back roads they can be avoided.
I'd like to see those stupid toll buckets go away. No one carries 35 cents anymore. They are so 60s in design, too -- the only neat thing about them.
Did some cleaning and I doubt this is...
I'm always freaked out when I meet someone born in 1993!! I graduated high school that year!! lol I met a wonderful bartender in England born in '93 and some of my husband's army mates were born that year. It still needs to register!!!!
Other than slight improvement of feminine care...
Wind's getting real whippy here. I just heard people outside yelling. lol Last August during the hurricane a bunch of people in this neighbourhood went outside and jumped around in it. Must've been them -- it sounded like fun yelling. lol
Sitting here with my window wide open. I hear whipping wind, a crash now and again, and sirens in the distance. No idea what the crashes are -- kinda sounds like someone throwing something in the trash dumpster but no one is......
Lots of improvement came in the 80s and 90s. I remember huge, thick pads, too. Hated them. The super-slenders that became more mainstream in the 90s were wonderful. I switched to internal protection in 2003 and never went back. Glad they are slim and silky, too :D I remember when they were...
My work was cancelled. Wind and rain is whipping around, but nothing crazy yet. I took the dog for a walk and it was like a ghost town! Not a soul on the road. Keep seeing pictures on my FB of the Atlantic City area being underwater.
Feminine hygiene products. I know tampons came onto the market in the late 30s, but belts, rubber panties/aprons, big thick pads......no thanks. My mom said she was happy when such products began to improve.
Lily Powers = Ha! Well, those long tight skirts were in style until 1937 when the a-line came in. The frills and the film stock made me guess '35, too. The location was completely random ;)
My last picture is from 1930. I love it. I love that they are all a little "sloppy" looking. Love...
Philadelphia public transportation has been shut down. Nothing here yet but some rain and winds. Nothing crazy, though. My work has a delayed 9:30am opening tomorrow.
Decasia is so pretentious, though!! I have a bit of pretentious-love in me, gotta admit. I prefer the cornball-ness of El Brendel, though ;)
I'd like to hear that Carl broadcast if you can send it. I'll listen to it at work. If it's anything like the 50th Anniversary of the Phonograph I...
