Here is an early 20th century Stetson No.1 quality with pencil roll brim and modest overall dimensions. Note the silver foil store imprint, a material that never seemed to adhere well - also a less common vertical inkless No.1 shield. The retail store was lost to fire in 1925.
Nice addition to the Schoble thread. That Ryman ticket might help you date the hat if you research it further. Grand Ole Opry moved there in 1943 but it was active under Lula Naff's leadership before. You're correct that the union label would suggest post 1934. Great find.

Not at all. The embossed Fray sweatband was a workhorse and remains remarkably flexible to this day. There were softer Frays but this one fits me well and still wears comfortably after 100+ years of use.
