I’m a big fan of cowboy boots but I’ve got a larger selection of Chelsea’s. I think it’s hard to beat the value and quality of RM Williams. They seem to last forever. I’ve got 2 pair I’ve had for years that haven’t needed resoles yet.
I don't own any Ship John and have no skin in the game, but doesn't this apply to every brand and every maker of a certain competence level? Quality aside, the secret sauce lies in the ability of some brands to develop devoted followings while others can't.
Thanks. 1930 Vintage Cossack model in seal brown goatskin. I emailed Shawn my interest with measurements taken from a jacket I own. He had me order on the website and then email him the order number. Bada bing bada boom.
Received my jacket early today (Oct 5 original delivery date). I took 2quick pictures in the office. My initial impressions: goatskin looks, feels, and smells great; nice heft but still very light; stitching looks clean except around the button holes; and overall fit is pretty good and should...
Man, if they can produce a jacket based on the photos/specs you sent that isn't part of their catalogue, that opens a whole world of possibilities. I'm also rooting for you and hope they nail it (or get close enough to retain the value proposition).
I emailed Shawn on 9/21/20 with measurements. He responded and we finalized details the next day. Pictures seems to match the measurements I sent pretty closely.
He emailed me this morning with the attached photos and DHL estimated delivery is Monday 10/5/20. Pretty amazing turnaround time...
Well, this is a catch and release for me. I really wanted it to work. I wore it one time, but the arms are just too tight for my tastes. I hate to let it go, but it deserves to be worn regularly.
$850 shipped in the US. Will ship internationally for a little more.
I still have it but I don't wear it often bc, ironically, it was too tight from the jump. I should have returned it for an exchange but the thought didn't cross my mind at the time. An expensive lesson learned the hard way. It's a beautiful hide though and has developed character over the...
Same. My STF BL ordered through Thruston Bros in 2018 was my first foray into the custom leather world. For many, myself included, I picture Ton as our leather shaman through whom we vicariously enjoy his leather (mis)adventures.
I’ve also got a seal brown goatskin Cossack on order. With all the other gambles (and L’s) I’ve taken over the years on eBay and other forums, 250 seems more than an acceptable risk. I’m not into the military repos but I’m really curious to see what else they can produce.
$340 shipped CONUS. happy to keep in the rotation but also willing to pass on to the next happy home! Like many noobs, I thought I was man enough for the heavy leathers, but I just don’t have the time or energy to wear tough, thick, leathers religiously to make them buttery soft like the...
