    I just purchased one of these from Panama Bob. Can anyone tell me the proper name for this instrument? His description was: "Scissor - type hat measuring tool size measure accurate" I want to say it is an Ellipse Circumference Calculator, but I don't think that is right.

    Changing the shape of the hat from regular oval to long oval could cause a slight deviation in the brim. It depends on how much you have to stretch it. If you want to take that chance go for it. I do not know the company.
