I have to remember to try that strategy. Just don't forget to get frequent flyers miles for the guilt trip. :)
fmw: can we see a pic of you wearing the hat? I have no problem with different materials for hats. It adds diversity to the hat club.
jwalls: you did a great job.
I bought a hat identical to that weave and style for experimenting with. I got it from Panama Bob. It was a hat blank. I think I paid $20-$30 for it. I wanted to see just how delicate a modern day straw was. They are much more resilient than I thought.

RBH: those shots of Major Mike Moore's shop are fascinating. This is the first time I have seen a hatter sewing an edge onto a brim. Mike is very generous in sharing his trade secrets. Maybe it would be my honor that he and I will meet someday.
150719541: great photograph. Like father, like son. I am glad you are carrying on the tradition.
Steve: super velour. The feel of velour always amazes me.
Lefty: Now, you know I like that hat.
I just purchased one of these from Panama Bob. Can anyone tell me the proper name for this instrument? His description was:
"Scissor - type hat measuring tool size measure accurate"
I want to say it is an Ellipse Circumference Calculator, but I don't think that is right.
Changing the shape of the hat from regular oval to long oval could cause a slight deviation in the brim. It depends on how much you have to stretch it. If you want to take that chance go for it. I do not know the company.
Zetwal: very nice. Sharp color.
Alan: That hat is so pristine, Can't get enough of it.
Seth: Looks good on you. A very sturdy hat. I am sure you will get some nice compliments about it.
Dinerman: I really like that hat. I have to get me one just like it. I like the almost flat brim.
