I've noticed there are more bargain prices for vintage menswear the farther west you go. When I went to Milwaukee Wisconsin in 2011 I practically bought something in every vintage store I went into the prices were so good!
Went with some friends the other day to restored 35 mm screening of "Safety Last" at the Film Forum. Mixed up my '30s and '50s garb to try and get a 1920's-esque feel to go with the 1923 film.
Found this '40s tie at a Salvation Army for $1.99. It looks like it was retrofitted in the '70s to be even wider. I guess the guy really liked the design. I've since taken the new thread out and plan on returning it to it's original dimensions.
