I have both the Alexander's is 2" narrower in the waist and chest than the one size smaller Highwayman.
Will take some measurements and post them ( they will be for a 40" Highwayman and a 42" Roadster if that helps).
Equally the Thurston thing seems to work great if you are across the...
Nice .. awesome collar colour ... I much prefer the rust mouton or the pale ( bleached) mouton on the G-1 to the dark Mouton. I suspect the original came with dark brown and at 1972 may have been synthetic ( I'm no expert on the G-1 but have seen similar star models from the 70's with synthetic...
Looks like one of a multitude of B-3 styled jacets which have been produced from the early 70's to the current day. I had a very similar jacket that I bought in Dobbs Leathers in Kettering back in about 84/5. Most were Far East produced from South Asian or Chinese sheepskin.
Nice warm...
I have both ... The Roadster should be selected TRUE TO YOUR SUIT SIZE ( my highwayman is one size down from my suit size )
The Roadster is slightly trimmer and less boxy than the Highwayman and about 1" shorter in back length.
( took me 2 attempts to get the right size Roadster as it did...
It's very similar in weight to CXL ant totally different to the previous " napped" oil pull which both Aero and Alexander's did. It is smoothest but is really developing grain and character straight out of the box. It's not grainy veg tanned steer ,,, more like a satin CXL. Will see if I can get...
Just a little .. Identical to any of my jackets with a chest pocket and an inner pocket ( Alexander's / Aeros / Eastman ) they all did it. I don't notice it much but there is a distinct difference left side to right side ( it's one of the reasons I veered away from the chest pocket on my...
The "Sack Coat" or what we know in the UK as a "Donkey Jacket" ... originated as the original workmans jacket from the late 1800's and early 1900's simple design and of tough wearing yet warm woolen material. It gained the leather shoulder and back panel in 1929 along with the cuff...
It's really nice leather about 2.5oz .... just the right weight for a cafe racer.
I can breathe fine but it's tight man ... and I can't wear anything other than a T-shirt underneath. :(
Got IR's and Beckmans from Redwing shop in Houston ... and 1000 milers from the Allen Edmunds Outklet store in Charleston. The IR's are superbly comfy, 1000 milers next and Beckmans 3rd. IR's are "jeans only" boots for me, the 1000 milers and the Beckmans are jeans and chinos wear.
If I was...
Mine originally had a "Stuart Tartan" lining ..... got it in "Army Navy Stores" in Glasgow ... lasted 4 years of Uni and numerous pub gigs .... the lining had given up the ghost by '87 and I had a little bit more cash ... so I bought a Schott Peacoat and I still have it :)
Makes me feel a...
Autum / Summer / Spring ... Carhartt Blanket lined jacket / Aero AN6552 or Aero M422a or BK M422a / Roadster (2) or Highwayman (2) / Drifter or HB Deluxe / Adventurer / Detroit (2) or Bootlegger / Oakland or Held Gore Bike Jacket / various leather jackets ( Schott / Chevignon / Ralph Lauren )...
Bought this on the "Outlet" for £300 to replace my 44" Highwayman which was too big .... I had an almost identical jacket to this in 2005 ( and I mean "almost" identical even down to the hide ) the only difference was it was lined in "Grant" flannel cotton and was a Highwayman. This is about 2"...
