A REALLY practical adjustment if you want greater freedom of movement of the arms for say riding a bike .... has no real downside other than a little more bulk in the armpit but not really that noticeable.
A GREAT solution to your fitting issues .... keep us informed and remember the pics...
slightly lighter and slightly more drapey ... it has a smooth surface somewhere between nubuck and CXL ..
It depends on the look you are trying to get .... I have the indiana in it ( my travelling jacket currently .. probably one size too large for an FL type fit ... but I like it that way to...
not a black goatskin .. but a seal brown one ( as most of the USN jackets were ... ) I'm sure there will be many who have / will post their own ( both military and non) :
BK Wills & Geiger M422a
Aero AN6552
Not much give and the AL patterns are pretty true to ( suit) size if you wear a 42" suit then order a 42 .... ask AL for measurements and compare them to your own. In my experience actual chest + 2" is as trim as you'd really want to go as follows :
Actual Measured Chest - 42"
Ideal...
not the same but similar .... M445 has a different collar closeure and diamond patches on the sleeves ..... M445a has very similar button / latch closeure to the ANJ-4 and similar leather overlay on the sleeves.
You can get a repro of the :
M-444
M-445
M-445a
and the ANJ-4

The Roadster has a 1 size neater fit than the heritage Highwayman .. overall a 42" Roadster is approximate to a 40" Highwayman (I have no idea re. the 59 highwayman or the Sheen or the 30's Highwayman ... I don't have any of those !) ... all I can state is that compared to a 40" Highwayman the...
I like both ..... and both can be made in a variety of hide ... I went for the AL one because :
a) I could get it relatively quickly ( within 4 weeks)
b) I got it at a great price
c) They already had my sizes on file so I knew it would fit.
there is really nothing I'd change about the...
I wear it all the time HP .... it's not a museum piece, it's a jacket and as such gets worn ( it's what it was made for).
I was worn regularly by Ruridh up till his retirement ( still has the holes from his pips and crown) and was used by his predecessor as well .... I just don't want to see...
Many years ago I was given a 1944 Denison Smock by Colonel Ruridh Rutherford .. this had belonged to Colonel Rutherfords mentor and had been used during WW2 ( I have fiull provenance but that's largely irellevant and not particularly exciting)
When it was given to me there were two areas of...
I had an Aero "grizzly" for a short period in the late 2000's ( boght it from the USA on the bay) ... I have to say it didn't "feel" like horsehide it felt more like the cowhide rugs you get as throws in Ikea etc. ( and this isn't a reference to Storse or anything just an observation) .... the...
Chi-town ..... I know it well ( roughly spend 6-9 weeks there every year ) .. I'd go Medium weight because you aren't gonna be riding the bike Nov-March ( or wearing a leather bike jacket) and medium weight will be perfect in spring / autumn .... Vintage/tumbled FQHH or Bison or...
Nice spec ... the bootlegger without the eppaulettes is effectively the Alexanders Detroit ( I have 2 ... one in Horween Bison ( which is stunning) and one in Burgundy "Warhawk" FQHH ... both not lightweight jackets).
Alexanders - Detroit
I have had an Aero bootlegger in FQHH ( Black)...
Depends how "temporary"
I've used 3m double sided tape ( high strength) with sponsors logos on motorcycle leathers ( works really well and is good for a full seasons racing without any damage. Have also used it on no ex and it's permanent for about 5 washes.
