Spain and Star [and any other arms maker that wasn't already] produced weapons for one side or the other during WW2. Stars were popular as they were well made and reliable. A Nazi SS mark would have also been styled differently and had the "dirty bird" stamp as well. CDNN has magazines in stock...
The problem I would have with myself open carrying is that I don't want the criminals to know I am armed. If hunting that is different, just my two cents.
I was very pleasantly surprised at a newer product by Armor-all, wipes for leather and vinyl. Bought it to use on the car's seats and my leather work coats. I was so impressed I then tried it on an older leather briefcase I picked up and it worked very well. Easy to use and no mess at all.
hatguy, look for a Pelikan 150 or 215 on ebay. These are piston fillers that hold about a quart of ink. These are excellent pens, the "entry level" of Pelikans and will not disappoint.
A friend of mine just got a Remington R1 1911 in stainless and polished it up to look like nickel. Turned out nice and might be a starting point to consider.
I lost a friend a couple of years ago, went by Cooncatbob, who made beautiful handles for razors. i still have one of his prototypes. it is a treasured memento. I need to break it out and use it again.

And remember, everyone's hand and tastes are different. While many folks love the Safari, it doesn't fit my hand well. It is an excellent pen for most folks. I love the old Shaeffers, but the much less prestigious Esterbrooks are now my favorite vintage pens. Try them out and enjoy the experience.
