Lining from most warm to cold...
I agree with HD regarding the lining - listing in order from most warm to cold from what I own:
1. shearling
2. Alpaca
3. Gabardine (od green B10 cloth)
4. Cotton drill (the most versatile)
5. satin lining (luxery feel and look - have it with my jerky...
It will be more relaxing and enjoying to wear a new jacket without guilty conscience...and its more satisfaction if your wife/GF gives you compliments about your new acquisition...perhaps...otherwise... it could be also an "individual case assessment".;)

Windward
Shearling is my favorite lining when it gets real cold around freezing - its not bulky because I asked for 1/2" shearling and since I am very soon begin to freeze I asked Aero for sleeve with alpaca PLUS an overlay with satin. Its comfy and cozy to walk downtown with just a T-Shirt or Shirt...
Thanks Joel...happy to try out new things.
Thanks John - its worth a try - only got kiwi natural wax - will apply a bit and after dried out try to polish the part...
Used brown shoe polish (Kiwi wax) to fix some ugly scratches on my brown jacket . . . but the whole jacket :eeek: ...not brave enough.
I fear that the solvent - which is best for my Alden shell cordovan - might harm a chrome excel tanned FQ-Horsehide.

Some of the horsehide jacket got a nice shine but loose it (in a nice way) after wearing - but want to give it back to one of them .... any idea to make a natural polish and very effectiv !?
Thanks
Look at the before and after pic - have to say the after pic is more reddish - so you put a lot of reddish color to it simply to bring out the original colour....
