Could it be the jacket you are wearing here? I remember coming across these pictures and noting the presence of the third chest zip, which is also on my own Cal. The one you are wearing in those pictures also has two...
The leather choices from Five Star have typically been the factor holding me back. Really excited to see what this new stuff looks like.
This is probably an overly optimistic question, but in terms of jacket making "ability", do you think a design like the Leathertogs B is a bit out of reach...

Not familiar with Bristol quality, but a deadstock NWT jacket for $100 looks pretty good.
The one thing I'd note is that Al Leathers used YKK zippers and their belt pockets are top over bottom, whereas Cal's are typically found with different zippers due to their age, and their belt pockets are generally bottom over top. But these aren't differences of quality, just of design.
This Grizzly caught my eye recently. Anyone know what the quality would be like? No clear tags, so I have no idea who the maker could be. I've wanted to try the style, but it's hard to find a Grizzly that is cheap!
You might be thinking of this one? "Taste of Leather".
I think that could be another Golden Bear, haha. There are a couple details that are different, but this also looks a bit more recent, so maybe the design changes over time.
Pretty sure this is another vintage Golden Bear. Someone from here needs to try this style out and give a review! I keep seeing it, but have not seen much written about it. I've also seen more Golden Bear jackets relabeled from leathers stores and other non-leather specific adult stores than any...
Nah no worries, I think you would be better served by it. I'm not very familiar with the brand and was on the fence about buying it for flipping. There seems to be a large variety of prices these sell at, although all above $100, so I think you're still getting a good deal.
@dannyk I reached out to the owner of that jacket a couple days ago and we were making plans to ship it to me. I was just going to flip it though, haha. I'll let him know he should work with you instead. Here are the measurements, by the way:
16.5 Shoulder to shoulder.
24 Shoulder to cuff.
19...
This is my experience too. I have a more recent CHP2, and while it is very heavy, the leather is soft to touch and far from being stiff. It's actually so pliable that its not easy to prop up by itself, whereas with my Cal I can just set it down right away and it stands up. I still like it...
I think it would work, but I've put a hold on buying any more jackets for now. I do want to upgrade my current CR, which is an okay Fidelity I got for cheap, but I'm thinking of saving or waiting around until a Vanson comet comes around for cheap.
I have a Bates racing jacket that could possibly work. It's three four colors though...Is that jacket Apparel Annex?
Anyway, my small contribution. Gold label blue Brooks CR. Pretty good condition, too. Too large in the chest for me so I sold it. Just found out a week ago that the buyer then...
@ton312 you're probably aware of this, but since I wasn't sure if you were referring to all LAPD models, my Vanson CHP is significantly longer than my Cal CHP. Not sure of the front length, but the difference is 28" to 24", respectively. The Vanson is at the point of looking normal even with...
Does this shearling look genuine to you guys? Seller described it as faux fur. It's almost identical to the Schott 212 "mountain man" jacket, and I don't think they ever made it with fake shearling. Still...It doesn't look quite the same as the 212's fur. First two pictures are the jacket in...
