There’s finally a break in the hot weather; rainy and chilly today. My wife knows how much I like my US Authentic G-8 in Seal brown goat so she bought me one in russet horsehide for my birthday!
Stealing my pose from @Thuggee (tho instead of a Frankenstein t-shirt, I’m wearing 1930’s screen...
Robert Kennedy wearing what appears to be the G-1 jacket with Presidential Seal patch that belonged to his brother Jack (Robert’s son, Robert Jr. is wearing a Navy N-1 deck jacket).
More crazy thunder and lightning and pop-up rainstorms.
I lucked out and found a brand new, unworn Gibson & Barnes Civil A-2 (side-entry handwarmer pockets, inside wallet pocket and interior leather facings along the zipper) which I got for under a hundred bucks on the ‘Bay. The mid-weight...
Nice jacket, and a very good label. I checked eBay and found FS Leather in Lahore, Pakistan. Is that the company you purchased this from?
This one looks much better than the pics that are on eBay.
Hot and humid weather lately but we’re getting sudden, violent, pop-up thunderstorms with lots of lightning. During the torrential downpours, I’ve found out how water resistant vintage goatskin can be!
Cool jacket! “Tales of the Gold Monkey” came out when I was just a kid but that show got me hooked on leather flight jackets (as well as old sea planes/flying boats).
My first leather jacket was a Schott A-2 with a home-made blood chit that I made myself.
I still have a “Jake Cutter” TOTGM A-2...
Very nice assortment of G-1’s @pjman!
My own G-1 collection has grown considerably over the last few years, now totaling about 20 jackets. I’m a size 46/48 so finding wearable jackets in my size has been a challenge (but an enjoyable one!).
I would suggest looking for older vintage jackets that...
Wow, gorgeous jacket! Steve made me a Willis & Geiger M-422a and it’s a beauty. I agree 100% with your review; Steve is a master jacket maker and his workmanship is superb. His communication and his updates as the jacket is being constructed is the best!
Certainly a shame that the fit isn’t...
My day started out cold and rainy at 5:30 in the morning; I headed off to work in the G-1, my safety vest and my back pack with all my gear, plus my new hand-made navy blue Merchant Marine “crusher” cap. I leave my job in the afternoon and it’s bright sunshine and warm temps. Crazy weather!
My great grandfather (on my mother’s side of my family) was a tail gunner in a German reconnaissance plane in WWI. Unfortunately we don’t know much about him; it’s a shame that so much verbal history and personal recollections is being lost every day with the passing of our elderly veterans.
Hi Mike,
Korean War era G-1 jackets are interesting, especially if patched up with emblems, nametags or blood chits of provenance.
Also, larger sized G-1’s (44, 46, and especially 48) are harder to find and usually command higher prices.
If the fur collar is as-new and the zipper and knits are...
