Hoosier Daddy, I've got a sample now and the color's a shade darker than the picture for sure. Very rich and mellow color-one part orange, one part brown, and one part yellow. heavier than it appears too. This goat looks great in suede too but the upkeep would be too much. I'll take some pics...
I like these very much, and am going to be thinking about them all day, already I can tell. I should get one and get it done. Excellent review of these and great summery of why they are so cool. Thank you Jan!
Good morning, an earlier thread on lighter color leather jacket's got me thinking about one. I’ve been looking for sometime now at this particular hide color Langlitz offers and I wanted to get some advice from the forum members here. As you can see the colors seem to be closest to of a soft...
Lanlitz Leathers has an elk hide option. Not sure of the color options other than the gold/butterscotch pictured here: http://langlitzjapan.com/leathers/elkskin.html
Email Dave Hanson and he can tell you what the options are. leathers@langlitz.com
Andy, you'll like yours I think. I love Filson. If I ever get to a cooler climate, I'm going to start wearing their wool. Hopefully, they'll still be around then and not get bought out by some corporation that will make the goods overseas somewhere.
My experience
I've sent Mark M. emails and have gotten immediate replies. I've sent emails to Aero directly and have once gotten no reply back, and one other time only a partial reply that was ultimately not much help. I don't think this is a big deal as things happen, and there are others...
I suspect how they wear would come down whether the hides are chrome tanned or vegetable tanned. Oil-pulled steer would probably develop some interesting characteristics fairly shortly. I think I'm going to score some cowhide samples from Aero and throw them out in my backyard and see what...
I'd like to see some Aero steer that's had some miles on it. The thing I like most about all the Aero HH I've seen is the way the finish wears so that in less than a few years you have a nice patina going that so many here covet. I'm sure their cowhide ages similarly.
I'm an animal lover to a degree and I've never contemplated the ramifications of the so-called "natural death" stipulation for horses. I have no doubt, human nature what it is, that it can make for a sad scenarios for some horses. This does bother me and I'm glad to have a bit of education on...
I'm sure you'll do fine with Crane's for this order.
I bookmarked Rockers primarily because they're always updating their site and seem always to have a neat variations of all the major manufactures I like, or at least like to look at: Filson, Aero, Langlitz, Churchill, Lewis, etc.
Rocker's Speed Shop in Paris carries Filson. I've emailed them before about other things and they seem like a great bunch. If nothing else they might be able to refer you if they don't have the exact jacket you're looking for

Hepville, very cool! Looks like fun too. I too really like the flight jacket. You don't often see those in cotton with the fur collar. It's a great combination.
I ordered something from Iron Heart UK and Giles stated that they'd never been tagged for anything going to the states before. He said if they did, he'd reimburse the amount. That tells me that it is indeed "luck of the draw" as to whether you'll have to pay the duty or not. I think that if...
