Many thanks for taking the time to do a thoughtful write up on the jacket and Union Garage. Being that I'm currently shopping for a jacket this thread hit home. Love that oxblood leather; it solves the only minor worries I had about Vanson's Octagon leather: that it is too orange. And I agree...
I should probably clarify my statement on Aero above; I'm not an Aero hater by far. I only meant that the jackets I've tried on (a Highwayman and a Board Racer) did not do it for me. I have been greatly envying a King of the Road for quite some time. With the D-pocket it is one of the nicest...
I have several Schott 618s (none in HH) and I do love them. They are the quintessential "American" motorcycle jackets and they fit me very well off the rack. I even use them for commuting and short trips around town. My oldest 618 has numerous "rocker" patches I've collected and I wear it to...
This jacket is no longer in production as it was the original 626. It has the antique brass stars and no bi-swing back. There is a new version (the 626VN) that Schott is offering now and, supposedly, the only differences are no stars, a different distressing and (according to the Schott Website)...
Mint condition Schott 626 in brown distressed leather size medium. Beautiful jacket. No flaws. No odors. Only worn a time or two outside the house. Only selling because it's too nice to be a closet queen.
Style and Fitment
Bought it last year and hoped I could make it fit but it's just too...
Interesting info on the Gringo in the UK, Edward. I tend to believe that the UK/European attitudes on moto safety are quite superior to those in the US so I'm not surprised to hear that the Gringo isn't fairing well across the pond. It's a great helmet; very large viewport and no heavy padding...
That V7 jacket is awesome! I particularly like the bi-swing back and larger hand packets up front (two minor complaints I have with the Comet) not to mention the oxblood option. And it definitely hides the armor well. Very cool looking jacket.
Pardon me for being a bit late adding my quid to this, but I've been away for the summer. I did read the OP's guidelines but I feel I must add my perspective on gear just to frame the context of my suggestions. Rather than basing gear decisions on the type of bike I ride, I say it's like...
BTW, gtdean48 is right; the sleeves may shorten as it breaks in. Vansons don't shrink or expand, they just relax. As the sleeves develop horizontal creases it will draw the cuff up a tad. I've never had a Vanson draw the sleeves up more than .5 to .75 inch though.
A good rule of thumb I use is...
I own several Vanson jackets including a Model B and Vanson is just about the only jacket I wear on the bikes. Just from the pics, it looks like it fits you just fine; the sleeves are just right and the waist seems to give you plenty of room. I'm guessing that is a competition-weight jacket? If...
I'm not a serious watch collector, but I recently decided to order a Poljot Strela because I was curious about the 3133 movement and I have wanted a black-dial chronograph for quite some time. Thought I would share my experience in hopes it might help others like me who were thinking of doing...
