Wal-Mart it was, when we were leaving from dinner, not inside Wal-Mart, a older man ahead of us turned and stated, he saw us at the table and wanted to say, nice hats ya'll have there, then he said he used to own a western store and sold hats, but really wanted to see the hat Rusty had on, he...
Don't worry about being off center, I like that look, shows the hat has a real person in shaping the hat, also I like seeing hats wore with a little bit of a tilt to it on the person's head. Again the hat looks good, just pick it up and place on your head.
Looks good on you.

I am buying myself one of the white ones, I need one to wear once in a blue moon on some job sites I have to visit, and this will fit the bill, while walking around inside the building.

What it means is the hat has a hatband made out of the felt cut from the brim, most of the time it is 3/8" wide, then a three piece buckle set is used and it is then placed on the hat, the buckle sets can be low cost a few dollars to several hundreds based on what the buckle set is made of (...
When I worked over seas in the oil fields many years ago,mid 70's and early 80's I wore what we called a turtle shell hard hat. Looked like a turtle shell on your head. Wish I had kept that hard hat, had many oil field stickers on it, it was lost at sea when a rig I had been on sank, all 94 men...
My thoughts are if you like the hat and it fits, and meets the needs of why you are a buying the hat, don't worry about what year the hat might have been made.
The hat looks very nice, seems clean and no flaws, what are your plans with this hat? making a dress hat out of it, or will keep it...
Call Jimmy and set up a time to meet him at his shop, drive up there and pick out the blank, the trimmings, all the details you want in a hat, and let him make the hat of your dreams, he is a hatter and can make it.

I bet that the hat you have on , more than likely has a mule kick in the back? BTW, the hat is nice looking, looks like it has been down the trail a time or two.

Ron, I have made several with a 3 1/2" brim, they look good on each person that wore them, sometimes the 3 1/2" brim doesn't look right on some people and they need a 4", it all has to do with you face, height and shoulder width.
Most people do seem to bring the front of the Gus crease down...
The hat band was custom made by a guy in Memphis, he can fix you up with what ever you need in leather, matter of fact he showed me how to do the lacing, he did about have of it, and let me to the other half.

I have about 24 of these that I take to shows and place hats on them, they work great and if you don't have a nice hat rack, these will do the trick.
