Im impressed in the interest these hats have gotten on the lounge and in our stores. We had calls for them and didn't know they existed. Most of the public don't seem to want tall open crown hats but there are a select audience of loyal hat wearers that seem to be drawn to this type of hat . I...
The original Barbiso closed in the early 1980's . Cervo bought the license from them and has been making the hats using the Barbisio label since. There have been other licensees as well. Bollman made them here in the 1990's and a company in Columbia called Puerto fino makes them still for the...
Jeff, you see what I mean about a hat like the Saxon. Imagine if a hat like that is too high of a crown, who is going to buy a Stetsonian with the exception of our loyal hat fans here on the lounge. The guys at Hatco seem sometimes lost when they come out with their new designs. Just keep the...
The Stetsonian looks like a nice hat. However , I don't think it will appeal to the masses as the style today is to get the smallest brim possible. We are getting requests from the public for hats with brims of 1 5/8" to 2. The lower the crown the better.
I spoke today to the Hatco sales manager. These hats technically aren't for sale yet as they are in the fall 2014 line. But , you can special order them if you know someone at the factory. Even the salesman that takes care of us didn't see them yet!!
Im getting some samples of them to my...
There are colors such as Taupe( in Italian Monlov) that are difficult to photograph. They also come in different every time. We can get two or three deliveries a year from Borsalino and each group will look different.
People understood quality more back then. To get someone to spend 200 for a hat today is quite a task. Back then, a person spent 10 on a hat quite often.
I'm glad I stopped bidding when I did...Even if it was from the 1950's , a 100 hat from 60 years ago would cost 1000 .00 today so you could imagine the quality of the hat.
Stetson 100's are the most common of the "100" hats. I have a Cavanaugh 100 (later model) but this Dobbs is from the 1940s so its a true vintage piece.
Really tried to get this one:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mint-1940-s-DOBBS-Fifth-Ave-One-Hundred-7-1-8-mens-Taupe-Fedora-Hat-/281195249691
Someone had deeper pockets than me..
If the hat is from the 1970's , then its pre 1976 as Borsalino changed the body sticker that year to a somewhat computerized version. I think the hats is more 1960's.
