From the look on the curl of the brim and the type of binding, the hat appears to be a Biltmore homburg.
There arent many factories today besides Biltmore, and Stetson that offer Homburgs locally.

I dont know who provided all of the hats for that show but we did have a costume designer come in and buy a few caps for the show. I believe that part of it is being filmed in the Brooklyn Navy yard. I wonder who sold them the rest of the hats.

From what I have heard , Dorfman has bigger plans for the company. It is one of only a handful of manufacturing plants for felt hats left in North America. They might try ot get other licenses and produce the hats there in Canada.

Henry the Hatter is the best hat store in the midwest. They have been in business for over 100 years.
Salesmen are only human . Sometimes a customer can drive a person a little crazy. After a long day , it can be hard to give 100% of your attention.

The two Schoble hats that I bought are happily displayed in my store. The quality is incredible.
The Stetson was given to my 8 year old who wears it when we go to the movies. It holds up great!

Your hat was made by Bollman in the late 1980's -early 1990's. They had the license for Flechet, Barbisio and Borsalino back then.

Lanolux is a basicaly a wool body that has been processed and produced using fur felt equipment . It feels a little better than a standard wool felt Bailey hat but the price is higher as well. They have been very good sellers though as Bailey is using linnings and better trimmings on the...
Biltmore is now owned by Dorfman Pacific. What this will mean in the future is uncertain. However, the company is now in full production and is back in business making good hats. It will increase their distribution greatly.
They would have gone out of busniess if not for the merger...
Ireland still has two cap factories producing very fine caps. One is Jonathan Richards . They do everything by hand-even the invoices!!

Hi Alan-Eby. the steamer is the one item that is still made today in the USA. i believe they are under 200.00 for a new one. Jiffy is the name of the company. They will sell one to you if you call them. By it new, they dont last forever.

Production years were not added to the hats until 1994. They were discoutinued when Borsalino moved their factory to their present location in 1986.
Today you can tell the date of manufacture by the 2 digit code that is at the beginnig of the production code . 2010 would be 10...
The Borsalino hat is an Italian made one. The other sticker has nothing to do with the hat. The hat was made around 1990 corresponding to the 321... number. Someone probably just stuck that other size tag in the hat.
Bollman did distribute Borsalino hats around that time in the USA as well...

I think part of the reason that the US companies such as Lynbrook couldnt match up with the quality of the imports is due to the fact that they could not use Mercury in the finishing or production of the fur bodies. The Huckel hats had Mercury in them.

I am amazed that there were so many Huckel hats imported into this country so early on. I know who the importer was for Tonak years ago but I didnt think that many stores bought them since there were so many hat factories producing here in the USA.
There might be a lot of interesting hats...
If you go onto the Borsalino website www.borsalino.com , they list all of their stores.
I am sure that there are independent hat stores there as well. Rome is a big city!

Right now the Barbisio operation here is a two person operation. I believe you will see more advertisements in the fall for the hats once the stores receive them.

Be patient ,fedora fans. There will be Cervo hats here in the USA in the fall. The selection will be small in the beginning . If sales increase, then more stores will carry them.
i believe that the hats will carry the Cervo name ,not Barbisio. there is a legal matter that needs to be settled...
Biltmore is NOT closing. I have spoken to the owner several time in the past few weeks. They are reopening after a downtime of a few months. I hope that they have fixed their financial situation and will be able to once again start producing a good hat. The summer was a dissapointment for us as...
