Last time I was at the Rolling Dub Trio shop, I saw the guy who took both my Clinch orders - I think he is the one who made my engineers - there. He had switched jobs. All the craftsmen I have met have been passionate and friendly.
I guess on the other hand, with all these new brands coming out...
If Ken was hated, the tone would be very different here. It would be much more aggressive. You can take a look in past threads for some examples of people and makers that were/are hated, you will notice the differnce.
As you said, Aero used to be put on a pedestal a few years ago, but since...
So you had to deal with some aggressive salesmen in America, I haven't seen this at any of the dealers in London and of course not in Japan. I don't think these American dealers are as represntative of their brands as Ken Calder is of Aero, would you agree?
What is CSF?
I was replying to...
Where does this come from? I know that some fans of Japanese goods in general can be overly enthusiastic, but I have not had any dealer tell me "JAPANESE IS ALWAYS THE BEST".
Futhermore, I speak Japanese and often go to Japan, and have never had any of the maker diss others like that. And...
I never really looked for it, if a jacket suits you it will look good even it is not perfectly fitting. Case in point my tan Thedi made me look good even with a 10kg fluctuation in weight.
I think you should use it if you want to, I personally think there is no alternative to this expression when you want to convey just that :)
The Japanese are not pretending that their technique is superior to others. And they are not saying something along the lines of "our jackets are...
You must have what I like to call a "universal" body type then as in you will be confortable in almost any ready to wear or made to order pattern. I can't say I have been as lucky, RMC doesn't work for me, Freewheeler is hit and miss, let's not even talk about Flat head lol
And the Aeros I have...
This.
They followed up by generalising that Japanese makers glue and skive their jackets which make them impossible or very difficult to repair. Yet this doesn't seem to be the case, as these jackets do get repaired as we've seen.
I suspect it is the only point they could think of to try...
It is a non issue really, Greg from Fields leathers who used to work for Aero skives his seams. His workmanship is superior to Aero's. I would really doubt that he decided to skive the seams because it is easier.
They are all nice, but the picture that is the most striking to me is this one
Gunmetal and Garnet also look very good, but that is another conversation :)
Maybe not any Japanese maker, as there are a lot we still don't know. I have a jacket on order from an unknown brand here, he is a biker and makes biker jackets. It has been on hiatus until I can go get fitted with the mock up.
Otherwise, I agree with you, I am also of the opinion that he is...
Very interesting, didn't know there was some kind of connotation with fashion excess with the term burgundy. You could always call it "wine red".
Come to think of it, my only CXL jacket is in that colour:
Speaking of difficulty to take pictures of...
I think the fascination...
A bit late to the party, but I think you will be happy with the jacket especially when your wife tells you every once in a while "why don't you wear that jacket?".
With the time spent in this forum and getting jackets, I realised that each jacket had its proportions. What seemed too short back...
And now for something a bit different:
And to keep it in the spirit of this thread, this is the first jacket that came to mind to match it
Although I think these would go with most of my jackets.
Edit: Didn't have the chance to take pics wearing the jacket today unfortunately
February is not too far off, just think of it as delayed gratification :)
I am wondering what your next project will be after you get this one where you want it to be... It is addictive lol
