Yes, and they were selling it for a song!
How’s the felt - is it as nice as I think it is?
What I especially love about the 3X is the smell - it smells like delicious, clean, raw earth!
I studied in Heidelberg. Great town. A bit expensive but well worth it!
Great shot - the house (mansion) I lived in while studying is just out of view to your right across the river.
The hat looks great, too, btw :)
That’s something along the lines of what I was thinking when I first started wearing the 3X, but each new mark it got was like claws down a blackboard! And boy does a white hat mark easy!
If they were easy to get I wouldn’t mind, but I can’t afford to make another 150 USD purchase so I’m gonna...
My 3X came in pristine white condition, absolutely beautiful even for a new hat let alone one that’s over a half-decade old. Now it’s got a dark stain from some runoff water during a sudden downpour and I’ve definitely learned to appreciate the adventure of a “beater”!
I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite - the 3X Stetson is SUPER nice. But I did anticipate getting back to the FED IV and finding its stock to be much diminished. Quite the contrary, the stock actually rose a bit. Absence makes the heart grow fonder maybe?
I purchased my first really vintage hat a few months ago and left the Akubra FED IV behind while on my trip to Australia....
Just arrived back to it and we went out for a walk today in the rain.
Boy, I like this hat! Even after wearing the 3X Stetson for the last few months, there’s still...
There is a very nice Shady Oaks 7 1/8 going on eBay right now. It would be lovely if it went to a Lounger - I just can’t purchase another hat myself at the moment. This appears to be a fantastic price...
Hi all, does anybody have any tips for protecting the engraving on leather sweatbands? I’m wearing the heck out of my vintage Stetson and the “XXX Stetson” gold writing at the front is already starting to show signs of rubbing of from forehead contact. Any suggestions?
Thank you for saying so, Red. I couldn’t do it if it wasn’t done in love and the community here in Melbourne has begun to feel so much like family that it feels I’m leaving the Champ with a dear cousin.
Unless it’s a heritage of tyranny that is being undone. I’m not referencing the recent controveries in the U.S. so much as tyrannies like Stalin and Mao. Taking that heritage apart is worthwhile, imo, and perhaps Alessandrians felt that moving forward after the Borsalino era necessitated undoing...
I’m not actually wearing this hat today but i’d like to mark the occasion.
It’s always bittersweet to gift a hat, but this feels like the right move for me to make. My friend Felix here in Melbourne looks great in this vintage Champ and he can’t afford to invest in something worthwhile right...
I just purchased my first Borsalino. I won’t have it in hand for another three weeks when I return to the U.S. and I have no idea of the quality of what I’m getting, but the price was right for me and I’ll post photos when I’m finally in possession of it (it’s one of those later model wide...
