It seems like my recent eBay victory was just a few posts away from yours, Mondo. Ended in a similar price range, too - except I had to fight for mine. The bids rose fast:
Stetson Twenty. 1950s?
Sadly I wont get it until the end of September when my truck finally rolls home for a break...
I don't have much time - I am so busy these days it's hard to remember where I left my hat.
I did have a delivery in St. Joseph, MO a few weeks back and low and behold right next door to my customer was a Stetson Outlet Store. So I parked the truck and took an hour to peruse the goods...
I admit the stiffness has bothered me more and more, but I favor Redfokker's opinion that the felt will loosen up over time. I'll travel in this fellow once my trucking days are through so for now I just take him out of the box once a week and brush him down.
I love the blue - it is exactly...
I believe this ribbon is what Mike calls the medium brown. It's got a hint of purple to it in my opinion .... don't ask me what shade or I'd say, "Joker purple."
I'm glad you like the vent work .... it's one of my favorite features.
All around I am very pleased with this hat. It's even...
Beautiful whippet Red! Mike really makes beautiful hats. I am not getting much wear out of mine simply because I'm afraid to work in it - too many grease mines around this truck. i have some vacarion in a few months though so I'll see if a couple weeks in SE Asia heat wont loosen that felt up...
Thank you Regan! The trucking has been challenging - it’s hard work and VERY time consuming. But it’s good pay and I get to do two things that I have loved all of my life: travel and wear hats!
It’s nice to have a bit of downtime to play with fellow enthusiasts. Have a great Sunday!
It’s not exactly that the glasses should fit the hat in my opinion. First, the glasses should fit the face then the hat should come in for a tight triangulation.
There are tons of webpages out there recommending different glass styles for different face shapes, same with different hat brim and...
Good to see you’re still interacting Bowen! I can’t take the credit for the color match-up, this is just the tractor the company assigned me. It does work out for a good photo, though!
Be well, sir!
Thanks Bob! I do get a lot of comments from other truckers and customers and also just random folks. I’ve only had one mean-spirited interaction but I was in a horrible mood that day as well and probably deserved it. Most of the time folks are enthusiastic to talk about hats or my...
Some 8 or 9 months ago I contacted Mike at Northwest Hats about a custom fedora. Due to life’s little intricacies (on my side, Mike was absolutely wonderful dealing with all my delays) I didn’t receive the hat until yesterday. But wow was it worth the wait!
This is navy blue, 5 3/4 crown...
I haven’t had time in the last few months for much internet at all. The old Stetson and I have been trucking around the country. We finally have a short vacation but we’ll be back out on the highways soon enough...
Good to see so many great hats out there!
Cheers,
Nathan
Grate looking hat. I missed the Barton Hall anniversary by a few weeks but I’m gonna have a belated listen to my copy of the concert as I drift off to sleep tonight...
It takes a super soft brim to crush back against the high-backed drivers seat in those truck cabs. The Mallory is perfect, the 3X Stetson doesn’t work at all.
