    Vintage Steerhide Buco J-24

(I’m hoping this post proves to be a little more civil than the last. I just wanted to share its cool history and the patina of many years of love!)

    Vintage Steerhide Buco J-24

I spent some time away from home for the 4th of July weekend and ended up picking up another J-24! This one came from the original owner’s grandson. His grandfather bought the jacket new, wore it many years while riding, and passed it on to his son when the jacket no longer fit. His son was a...

I’m on vacation and haven’t been able to respond to all of the recent comments but I still encourage the conversation within this post. Thank you all for your insight! Once I am home, I will do my best to post some other things and hopefully continue the conversation.

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

I just read the post about the J-82 and belt and I can see the concern. As stated before, I haven’t posted on the forum before and am doing my best to learn the ropes. I hope that I have explained myself well enough in previous comments to clear up the confusion!

    Is this a Buco J-82 or J-24?

This thread gave me a good chuckle

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

I’m not sure if you saw my reply to a previous comment, but I did have a general idea of the value of the jacket. I knew it was worth enough for me to buy it for what it was listed for. I simply wanted a little more insight into its true value. Thanks to a couple of kind folks, I now have a...

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

That’s unfortunate when speaking about the other thread. With that being said, I do my best to be as respectful as possible no matter who I’m dealing with. And thanks for checking with the seller! Honesty is something I take very seriously and I’m one to keep to my word. Hopefully people can...

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

“Cutting profits” to send more money to the original owner doesn’t make anyone a bad flipper. If one thinks so, they haven’t spent enough time “flipping”. Dealing in vintage clothing isn’t all about “flipping”, that is only part of the battle. There is plenty of research that goes into learning...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

The leather label proves it to be an earlier model but the double sided label shows that is not one of the very earliest models. Those were single sided tabs with a leather label. Either way, it’s a fantastic jacket and a great score for $30!

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

Thank you for the kind words, they mean more than you know. I’m doing my best to navigate the forum as I’m not necessarily familiar with the format, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it with time. I’ll do my best to learn more and continue posting as I go along!

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

Making a first impression and being judged are two different things. I’m more than happy to have a conversation with any and/or all of you! However, it’s difficult to do so when being spoken to in such a condescending tone. I’m doing my best to share more of my collection, the majority of which...

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

I’m not sure what constitutes this as “the wrong reason” but feel free to explain! There’s so much hatred on a post about a jacket and it baffles me. Petty qualms are just dividing people further.

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

The swift change in tone from being the first to express interest in the jacket to pure disdain after I declined to sell to you immediately is amusing. Best of luck to you on your journey towards a great J-24 of your own!

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

I am, in many instances, a “flipper”. I sold vintage clothing and antiques as my main source of income for years. However, leather goods are not my “forte”. With that being said, I am passionate about the jackets and their history and I’m here to learn more.

    Vintage Horsehide Buco J-24

I think “fairly” means different things to different people. No need to be bitter. I actually did send her more money today, thank you for checking in. I just didn’t see it necessary to update everyone. I’ll be sure to add that to the original post so that there is no future confusion

Here is my Schott steerhide. The patina is great in-person and the leather is still surprisingly soft. The steerhide wore really well.
