    Hello and thick hair despair

itsalovelyday... I believe I did pin curls in that style. I honestly can't remember the "setting pattern" I did, but what I think I would have done is pin curl two (or three) rows of pin curls at the crown. I would have then brushed back, with a slight pull in the opposite direction of the way I...

    Show us your hair do's....

Tonight I went to dinner with my sister and had a great time, but didn't take any photos. I did however want to take a picture of my hair, but when I got home it had fallen from the rain. So here is my hair after the rain got to it. Turning my tight waves and curls into loose waves and curls...

Going vintage from a shaved head...

I don't know if this was mentioned already, but while you are under the 1 inch mark, a headband with a flower or any other fun accessory attached to its side may be a fun way to accessorize your hair when you can't clip anything just yet. Also, berets will look smashing with the short short...

    Hello and thick hair despair

I think that a bonnet dryer is a wise investment no matter what kind of set you use. Keep in mind a bonnet dryer is different than a hood dryer. The bonnet dryer is a great way to set your curls no matter what technique you use. From your sponge rollers to Scarlett's hot set curling iron and...

    Dita Von Teese

A bit late to the conversation, but I just wanted to add that I have seen both Dita and Immodesty perform live and Immodesty is far more exciting. I'd like to add too, that believe it or not, Dita has grown leaps and bounds as a performer and is not nearly as dull as she used to be.

    Hello and thick hair despair

Hi Ya! I have super thick hair that is shoulder length as well, though mine is naturally curly. I have said it from the beginning that a cold set using cheap plastic perm rods is the way to go to achieve a desired curl. I recently figured out pin curls and use them to create shape and waves in...

    Second opinions on this dress?

Retronista... I think your dress is beautiful and once tailored it will be stunning on your figure! You may also want to get a bolero of sorts. I find coverups of any kind come in handy more than not. :)

    Help, Can't wear wool

I'm not joking here... but seriously, throw on some pantyhose or tights underneath. It helps me when I wear wool pants (I itch like crazy too). And don't get all freaked out because they are "ladies things". No one is going to see them. They will help.

What gives you that vintage feeling?

What a fun question! For me it's simply styling my hair. I can wear vintage, but if my hair isn't so, I don't feel it. Yet when it is styled I can slum in my clothes and still feel like a movie star!

StrawberryJenn... Thanks so much! I haven't done my hair in a while. It's fun experimenting with styles again. KamiKat... I can't wait to try it again. I think my hair is to the top of my boobs right now. I have to cut off most of it though. It's fried. :(

    Show us your hair do's....

Thanks so much!! FWGal... I can't wait to try the style again with a proper set! As for the other do, it is so beyond frizzy I have to cut it, but that night I used Beyond the Zone Straight Shot to help with the frizz. Maybe that is what it is? I can't imagine it being shiny in real life -- it...

    Show us your hair do's....

Here is my hair after the curlers were out. It's not the greatest pic of my hair, but the only one I have from last night. This was right after we all finished performing so it's an eh pic. Also... Inspired by this photo I wore my hair like this today. The picture was after a long tiring day...

Well Hmmm.. I don't know then. Have you tried spritzing your hair sections with a bit of hair spray along with your setting lotion (if you use one) and maybe that will help it "stick"?

What kind of rollers are you using? I use perm rods with the elastic hold and they just stay. No real trick. If I don't have enough hair on the rod they can slip out (I usually have to re roll a couple in the morning).

There are about 6 more in the back that you can't see. Normally I use a lot more, but my hair has died on me and my hair is super thin right now. *sad face* As far as glamorous... You are too kind, but believe me... the non edited version of this photo isn't nearly as pretty. But I am happy to...

    Why!!!! Hipsters!!! Why!!!!!

Gah! This thread is depressing -- yet another thread in the Lounge that hates on people (the moderns) who are different than the vintage and classic elite. Can we please get back to celebrating the Golden Era we love instead of wasting time on people not like us and putting that negative energy...
