While Flat Head is my favorite brand I would recommend against buying their leather jackets unless you are have a very skinny torso. Even speaking as someone who loves the brand and owns a bunch of their shirts, who likes the dropped shoulder look, the shoulders on thel leathers are just way too...
No prob. Personally, I wouldn't really worry about it. I'd say that very few people would say that the jacket gives you a "two-tone" look, of course what matters the most is how you feel about it. But really I think you only notice the stitching in direct lighting if you focus specifically on...
A-1, yeah, that is a huge difference. If I lived in Europe and had to buy from a European stockist, I wouldn't own a leather jacket. Not worth the money.
Adee, it's completely true that were relying on currency exchange for the price. It's part of my argument though for why the RMC is...
Adee, if you want to pay the Japanese price you're going to have to do some research and find a website willing to ship it to the United States.
Clearly going directly through RMC can't work since they have overseas business partners in New York, London, etc.
If 2k was the de facto price I...
172800 yen is tax included (8%). Pre-tax it's 160000 yen, and pre-tax the DD is $950. Yes, they do have other buco's that are more expensive (although pre-tax they're actually under 200000 yen), but I'm not saying that any RMC jacket is a better purchase than a DD (well, actually I am, just not...
You're comparing a domestic price to an international price. I don't think it's fair. I'm comparing the retail cost directly from each manufacturer, or in my eyes what the manufacturers believe the jackets to be worth. Japanese horsehide DD J-100 is $950, RMC shinki J-100 is 160000 yen, or...
Actually, the difference is $350. The RMC is a lot more bang for your buck and I'm really really happy with mine. You'd be crazy to go the DD route unless you needed the custom measurements, which he might not do right anyway
Personally I just don't think that these jackets are in different leagues. Although I only have first hand experience with flat head and RMC, id consider those two in the same league as Aero, free wheelers, Himel, JC, etc... Just from looks at least
I can pull out the lining so it protrudes a couple inches out the sleeve. I don't do that, or feel it in the arm, and it doesn't show naturally, so it doesn't particularly bother me.
But I agree RMC jackets are not perfect and I think that SF may have been exceedingly lucky in his purchases...
Eh, I don't really think they're overpriced... My buco was cheaper than a GW and I got it in about a week, not 2 years. Lol. And I agree sometimes the leather can be lackluster but it depends on the particular jacket you're getting. And the leather gets a whole lot better with wear. What looks...
I always think it's funny that members can have a couple very nice leather jackets, but be completely lacking in the denim, flannel, tee department. You'd think that there'd be more of a crossover in the pursuit of high quality clothing...
They're expensive no matter where you buy them, but it's of course easier to buy straight from japan. A bit more palatable of a price at $170. Of course you do get exchanges and better help getting your size with western retailers....
Anyway, it's a couple factors. Shuttle-woven fabric...
Superfluous, I have owned that RJB flannel, own that blue FH/glory park flannel, and have preordered the orange/black Flat Head since they remade it this winter, and it should be coming soon. Fantastic choices.
Guys, I implore you to check out Flat Head's flannels... Here's my current favorite...
By the way, thanks for all the comments guys! I'm happy that it's starting to break in even though I haven't worn it a bunch yet. It gives me hope that, even with my weather, it won't take too long for it to really look awesome.
And it's funny, I always knew that I wouldn't have just one...
