Flat head's leather is definitely heavier, but in my opinion it is not really worth agonizing over, it's not going to be significantly warmer or less suited to the Ca climate than any other leather jacket (which is already too much practically!)
Actually, I'd argue that if you want wearability...
Always happy to help. I've tried that exact same jacket on in a 40, which I thought was my size because the sleeves looked like yours, but tried on the 38 just to see. The sleeves were short (I'd imagine too short by many people's standards) but it was clear it was the better size because the...
It looks great on you. Personally, I would recommend trying a size down, cafe racer's (and especially clothing from Flat Head) are supposed to be pretty fitted. I'm a 40 in all of their tops and I'm a 38 in that jacket!
As we all know size is super personal, but if it was up to me, I think I would ask for a size 38 with an inch bigger body and half inch shorter sleeves. For my tastes, Dave's sleeves are absolutely spot on. And i think the proportions of the rest of the jacket are perfect, especially the length...
Man, I look great in that jacket. ;)
Awesome choice man, looking forward to it. I agree with PN, I think the 38 looks awesome. I think Himel is a proponent of sizing up though, I tried on a 40 Kensington which he said was definitely my size, but it felt slightly too roomy and I wouldn't have...
All the kind words are very appreciated!
Yes, I really am stoked with this jacket! One of the best things about it is that it's just really really comfortable. One of the main reasons I sold the RMC was that I found it to be a jacket I couldn't wear and be natural in - the upper arms were so...
Got this a few weeks ago but wanted to sell my old RMC before I posted this one up... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Flat head uses heavy Shinki leather and I absolutely love this jacket!
Lined with a proprietary selvedge herringbone buffalo check flannel...
The pocket...
Technovox, great himel. I'd also be interested in how much you wore it, it's looking surprisingly brown. Also, it is a black leather, correct? Just tea core.
My favorite aspects of the jacket are that sleeve construction and how impeccably put together everything is.
I really really love the contrast stitching though, I love that visual contrast to the black leather. I think it's even nicer that they used differing lighter thread colors too.
Flat head came out with a new jacket this summer... I'd love to see this one in a brown horsehide. Definitely reminds me of Aero's Highwayman.
