It's awesome to get to check out the goods in person, I was really happy I was able to stop by the RMC booth at inspiration earlier this year... Got to try on the buco and everything.
And yeah, most of the stuff I have had pretty short sleeves (although I guess I do search it out too), so it's...
I never got the costume bit. If what I wear was worn by blue-coat workers I don't particularly care, and I don't see that "dressing up."
When I buy the clothes I do it's because I like the look of them, they are (imo) the highest quality that's made in the world, and they age better with time...
Congrats on quitting BigJ.
Btw, sorry if you took my 400 ponud comment directed at you, that was meant to be an exaggeration to show that people of a certain size will have a hard time finding clothing anywhere imo, especially anything made in Japan.
Gav is exactly what I'm talking too... A...
Gotcha. From my brief ownership it almost seems like most of the teacore comes through when the jacket is new and has been handled during production, and in the first few weeks from random wear and high abrasion spots... The flaking you're talking about is really small right?
Would appreciate...
I'm not saying everyone will fit it, but as others have said, rmc is a Japanese company that doesn't seem to be too concerned with global expansion, so it's made for the Japanese market... Even though when I was there they didn't seem smaller at all than here in California...
Still think RMC...
You've just got your buco recently right? I know a guy on another forum who has worn his regularly for a few years, it still essentially looks brand new. The fact that the tea core is extremely difficult to make come out (naturally at least) is one of the main reasons why I went for that jacket...
Thanks, and you're welcome!
What do you mean though that the buco is a different tea core? Are you saying that usually the black chips off to show undyed color, whereas on the RMC it chips off to show a dyed brown color? I thought they were all like the latter...
It's been obscenely hot here in socal so I haven't worn this in a little, but the Diamond Dave thread reminded me that I wanted to give an overview and some thoughts on this... Here's some porn for ya
You can see that the back and the front of the jacket have a noticeably different grain...
I completely agree with everything you've said, but my point in my last post is that saying a Real McCoy's Buco is $1900 and a DD is $1400 is the same as saying that an Aero Highwayman costs $1300 (Aero Japan price) instead of $1000 (Aero UK price). In fact, the delta is even greater at $550...
Since you don't seem to be too bothered by it, option C is surely the best!
But I just want to reiterate, an RMC buco costs (and has a value of) $1350 when you aren't buying it at an inflated overseas price. Just in case people think 1200 pounds is too much and go for a "cheaper" option, when...
That jackets awesome, but how do we know that the person who posted it had an eye for detail like Carlos, or just was as honest as him?
And I'm probably at fault for this too, but maybe we shouldn't say one is better than the other unless there are demonstrable things easily seen, or you have...
Every maker has problems and occasionally sometimes glaring defects can slip through. That said, to me it's all about the end result.
I don't like hearing that there was a weird conversation, and I definitely don't like that the second jacket wasn't essentially the best jacket that Dave's ever...
Man, I am sorry. Customs is a bitch. Another thing I want to mention people is to not regurgitate (not you, just in general) that Japanese products are overpriced.... If you buy them for what they are truly worth, aka Japanese rrp. My RMC Buco was $1350 shipped to my door.
What closeups are...
Butte, not trying to convince anyone to worry about it. I'm just overly sensitive because I feel that in forums too often makers are considered to be above fault, and I feel that vintage character is a lame cop-out.
Thank you!!! Please everyone remember this. Just because the originals had imperfections does NOT mean that one shouldn't worry about imperfections in the (much more expensive) reproductions.
If I was paying original rrp for these jackets I wouldn't mind imperfections such as the ones...
Rakuten is incredibly easy to navigate, honestly. Just have to get used to it. It's just like ordering from any other online website, you just need to get used to seeing japanese and using translate.
I got ya sloan, just thought it was funny since usually I think that hot wash is less...
Looks great! I've always wondered why more people weren't into other nice clothing on this forum. Seems silly to have 5 leather jackets but no nice shirts, jeans, etc...
Just wondering, what made you put them in the dryer before just washing them on hot? I was everything unsanforized in hot...
