Hey Guys--The Akubra Traveler. I'm heading to Berlin in May to visit our son, so it will be Spring. Not sure temperature, but in May it averages 60s low 70s.
How lightweight is the Traveler? If it's unseasonably warm before we leave I can bring the packable Lock & Co Panama. But my guess is...
Yes, I was scrolling and saw yours in the grayer color, I think? I was hesitant at first because I was worried it would be too "western" on me, but it's not at all and I really do love it. Got it nice and wet today--the rain is back!
February seems to be Akubra month for me! Here's the second of three Akubras incoming or arrived: Akubra Fawn Banjo, from the Delmonico sale in January. Pairs well with a wool scarf from Berlin, my beloved Bean rag wool zip, and Barbour Waxed winter jacket.
It's official: I've joined the International Association of Campdraft Bashers. I resisted joining for years from just plain fear of doing it. I'm enjoying the process immensely, and absolutely adore the hat. I'm afraid I'm hooked on open crown. Next will be playing with hat bands.
And while I...
Campdraft has arrived, and I've had my very first attempt at bashing to a cattleman's OR style after watching some vids here in the Lounge.
No steam yet--I want to play with it a bit, try some other bashes, see what I like.
I don't know why I waited so long to do this and was so hesitant about...
Today I sport the venerable Akubra Adventurer. I was not adventurous enough to bash this myself, so the good folks at Delmonico gave it the Indy for me. But I do have an open crown Campdraft on order and I'm determined to play with a bunch of bashes, like the big boys here in the forum.
And...
Thanks all. I have decided to try the bash myself, it will be fun. If I flame out I'll take it into a hat shop. And there are worse things than a teardrop if I wind up with that.
Hi Friends:
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a sand Campdraft from David Morgan. I have three Akubras and adore them-- it's a good thing Delmonico only has two colors in Stylemaster or I'd be in big trouble.
I have a question about bashing the Campmaster. I have a Strat open crown that I...

I'm trying to get a sense of how white this hat is. I assume it tilts more to snow white than the silverbelly? Delmonico's looks almost ash colored, while this pic direct from Stetson looks snow white. Which is closer? Anybody have this hat?
This is what I'm trying to determine: does anyone have a modern 6x, how is it, and does it hold up in weather? It may be I just have to get one and beat the hell out of it to see.
But I guess I'm in the same camp as my PNW cohorts: I wear my hats in the weather, or they would not get worn. I'm...
No, the suggestion of a Campdraft is logical, I'm just not looking for open crown.
As i pondered above, I wonder if the OR beaver would give me an edge in rain because of felt?
Thanks. What I mean re Campdraft is I have plenty of open crowns to play with. I'm looking for a formed hat I can plop on my head when it rains.
Maybe I'm thinking that the stiffness (like a 6x) would be good for the rain, when I should really be looking at the fur. Maybe a smarter choice would...
Yeah. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. Not a fan of the styling. Anybody have any experience with the hats I mentioned in my question in the rain? Like I said, I already have an Akubra Stylemaster, looking outside the brand, specifically at Stetson. I understand the 6x version of the OR...
Hello:
Looking for a NEW hat (not vintage) I can beat the hell out of in the fall and winter Portland rain. Love the look of OR, and the pre-formed Strats. I have a stylemaster, I'm just looking for something different.
Would the 6x OR hold up in rain, ditto the Strat? I have the open crown...
