    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thanks for the info. Holland Hts describes this as "roll up packable". Not really sure about anything else, I have an email into them but have never dealt with this company.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Hello Borsalino Brothers: I have of late been a huge fan of the Borsalino Travel Trilby I purchased from Delmonico. The grade of felt is "Rain Proof", certainly below Superiore but soft and light and I love it. My question is, Holland Hats has a line of Borsalinos in 50 gram, which I know of...

    The Open Road Guild

I'm barely 6', and long and lean (although not as lean as I used to be!). 5 1/2 and 2 3/4 feels right to me. Michael is going to felt it with a more vintage feel, lighter weight than modern hats. I love my Akubras and modern Stetsons but sometimes they feel like wearing a helmet, especially...

That's exactly what I'm going to choose. Thanks!

    The Open Road Guild

Hey Guys: I'm about to have Michael Gannon work on an open Crown open road style clone. I want it to be the traditional open crown Truman type. He's asking me crown height and brim width, and I'm not sure what to tell him. Does anyone know the traditional measurements of the old ORs from the...

    Akubra Overload

With hot temperatures back to the PNW and yard work to be done, I found the fancy lightweight straws were not cutting it for sun protection. I grabbed the Campdraft and to my surprise it was comfortable even in the 80s. So, a Cattleman is on the way, reserved for these hot days and working in...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Sharp hat! Happy to say I'm in line for a Gannon Silverbelly open crown OR clone that I can bash with the Truman pinch!

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This is the first Lock I've ever purchased outside of their shop in London. Demonicos has a very limited supply, and with the sale I thought I'd take advantage of it already being in the states. I know some don't particularly care for modern Lock hats. I agree many are priced high, and I...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

New hat day for me today: Lock & Co Voyager Rollable Trilby. Yes, they cost. But I love these when I travel. They are also extremely lightweight and comfortable, so much so that I can wear them well into Spring and even early summer, depending. This is the charcoal grey purchased in the St Pat's...

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

I've not had much problem with Stetsons. They fit out of the box for me.

The tag reminds me of a tag I had in an OR in the 90s.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Just arrived through the Portland snow, from David Morgan an Akubra Campdraft in black. This rounds out my three CDs--Sand, Bluegrass Green and this. My first real experiment in open crown and I'm hooked. I have an email request into Michael Gannon to get in line for a Silverbelly open crown...

    Akubra Overload

I have received my Campdraft in black from David Morgan (the Traveler went back.) Just put a simple bash in it. Very pleased with the hat, and this completes my Campdraft journey unless Akubra adds more colors: Sand, Bluegrass Green, and now Black. A good assortment.

    Akubra Overload

Say Friends: Does anyone have an Akubra Sydney and can comment? I have located one in my size. I'm wondering if, besides the fun of the open crown, it will be any different than the Stylemasters I have?

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

This is absolutely true. Akubras are wonderful but the felt is of a different quality than the hat illustrated. That's why I have a Gannon custom silverbelly vintage open road style on the wish list. This year, for sure.

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

As others have said, open crown hats can be rebashed. That is one of the reasons I like the Campdraft, and why others love to buy custom/vintage hats that have open crowns.

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

I wear my hats everywhere, from the yard to town to the inside of an airplane. And the modern OR is a great look, I love mine. But it is a very distinct look, and I love an open crown hat that I can bash to my own specs.

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what pairs well with it?

Angles and proportions and photos and also personal taste: I like the crown tall and have bashed it that way. But that's what's great about a CD--you can bash it however it pleases you! I hope the OP considers a CD: from what I'm hearing I think it would be a perfect hat for him.

Look through the gallery of pictures in the thread AKUBRA CAMPDRAFT here. It is filled with great pictures of the hat bashed with a cattleman's. Some guys here really are great at it and have produced beautiful cattleman's creases with CDs. FWIW, I started out thinking I wanted my CDs to look...
