With respect, you’ve just been kind of deliberately disingenuous. Your posts have willfully ignored the very clear difference between a heritage work boot that is very tough but also fashionable, like, say, a White’s Semi-Dress or 350... and, say, a Haix Protector, which is a modern, tech-loaded...
Wasn’t trying to offend you, but I’m not about to get into a pissing contest about who does more work in the field... Because A. I have nothing to prove, and B. that’s a frankly ridiculous thing to say. I mean, really, man. You’re literally posting on a website dedicated to discussing fashion...
Well, since starting this post, I’ve handled a few Whites... Firstly, they are not work boots. They are fashionable throw-back work boots... There’s a difference. True modern work boots do not cost north of $600. There is no doubt that the White’s will more than hold up to a beating. But if...
So maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick regarding Viberg...
Are they leaning toward a fashion brand because their construction/build quality has fallen off?
Or merely because lately they are enamored with hides better suited for fashion boots than hard-wearing work boots?
If the latter...
I went with White’s via their eBay store... But had to cancel the order due to their inability to sort out a really simple shipping issue that wasn’t my fault to begin with.
Regarding the Vibergs, I admit that since starting this thread I have stumbled upon a few more threads which call into...
I've been looking into top-end heritage work boots (excluding the super crazy expensive/exclusive Japanese homage stuff), and if I understand things, it appears Wesco and Viberg are pretty much equal with regards to build quality and materials, while White's is equal in terms of materials, but...
Yes, Corlection’s description is very weird, no doubt. The reason I didn’t completely disregard it is because I’m unsure if it’s just some website copy writer throwing around words that sound “high-end leathery” to them, or if it’s a genuine, albeit botched attempt to relay actual information...
LL does a variety of leathers; one of their regular hides is indeed veg-tanned (sheep).
Reason I’m wondering is that this particular horse hide is a bit thinner than the other stuff in the store, which to me felt a bit thicker than Vicenza, while the one I bought is thinner. Also, the other LL...
Just bought a Universal Racer Mk2 constructed of what is described as “horse hide tanned in Italy”. The production card is dated May 27th, 2017.
The leather is quite thin... a bit lighter-weight than Vicenza, with a more uniform finish and much smoother, smaller grain.
My question is, does...
I’d like to walk-back my endorsement of the Underwater Kinetics Super Hanger... It’s certainly flat, but too narrow for many jackets. Appears it could cause shoulder bumps. I’ll hold off on anymore hanger suggestions until I have a bit more knowledge, ha ha.
Its been a busy month. Got a black nubuck trucker from Johnson a few weeks back, just after that an Aero X LVC, three days ago an Aero Board Racer in dark seal Vicenza, and still waiting on a Lewis Corsair in black sheepskin...
Think I’m keeping everything but the Aero X LVC.
Hmmm... I guess match the slope to the jacket, maybe? I’d heard a flatter hanger was kind of universally better for heavy leather, but I wonder if the key isn’t just to get as much of the jacket supported as possible- if that means a traditionally sloped hanger, so be it.
My jackets seem to...
The issue with most hangers, including the wide-shouldered and the pool-tube-life-hacked variety, is that they feature an aggressive downward slope which is not conducive for storing leather jackets.
Aero makes a gently sloping specialty leather jacket hanger, but it seems to be perpetually...
Gentlemen,
My second Board Racer has arrived, and the fit is perfect (thanks very much to those of you who opined that I return the first one, I am very glad I did).
The new jacket is a beautiful 4 pocket version in a particularly nice dark seal Vicenza, soft (for Vicenza), with plenty of...
