@Monitor, interesting info about Buco. I've seen J23, J24 in GC(8/10) selling for 1500-2000$ on ebay. Others posts also interesting.
For me, I would get a vintage jacket only if:
- it's my size
- it's in good shape to be worn (no rips, scuffs, fades)
- it has a much lower price than high end...
Hi,
I'm 6'2" also and 194 lbs.
I own a Schott 618 black HH, size 42, the US model. Measurements are as follows:
- back length (collar base seam - lower edge): 24 inches
- sleeve length (shoulder seam - cuff): 25 inches
It fits rather short but normal for this type of jacket. It fits as it...
Congratulations, good choice - classic design and a fantastic craftsmanship. I am always amazed by how flawless LW jackets are despite leather thickness.
Thanks for leathers thickness comparison, very useful.
Speaking about LW hide size/thickness. I noticed that lately(last few years) that...
True, the way it drapes looks heavy and rather supple.
Nice jacket the NYPD one, but maybe if I see more pictures/info I can get a more precise idea. The site picture is not so convincing. I am sure they make quality jackets from what I've been able to see on eBay.
However with all their...
I got this from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Branded-leather-Motorcycle-Jacket-Size-42-eastman-aero-lost-worlds-/262730281838?nma=true&si=gxEEbzgqIR%2BLB51rXoYIJ%2FTPyE0%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Has almost all elements of a classic CHP jacket. Not bad for this price...
Nice ideas from Peacoat, I was not aware of those possibilities.
I wear some "italian" type cap : https://www.pinterest.com/pin/475200198156381798/ . Espacially with the WW2 pea coats, it gives a more classic early 20th century look. This cap style is quite multivalent, it goes with several...
Try to lay it zipped and as flat as possible(keep both ends with hands to avoid making waves due to thick leather) and measure like here
see pic http://maniacs.in/wp-content/uploads/Sizechart_01.png
@brkriete
I have it in size 42 (goat) and is at least 44 inches at arm pit
I have it in size 44 (black HH) and is more like 46+ inches at arm-pit.
Maybe measured zipped and completely laid flat it would turn out differently.
Lots of sellers on eBay give these loosely taken measurements to find...
I wear these in white color: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191696537919
Quite good for the price. Pay attention to the size. I am a 44" chest 34 waist and prefer it more fitted. So I need L in the normal Proclub long sleeve (non-termal) due to more shrinking. I need to take M in this thermal version...
Thanks a lot for the info!
9.5D is actually my size in Red Wings too. :) Now I'm more confident.
Do you happen to know if going to E(wide) would be just right for adding a cushioning insole (I have the Redwing insoles)?
I like these heritage work boots. I have a pair of Red Wing Iron ranger boots and recently found White's boots. Truly impressed. The price is not that prohibitive for me like Viberg for example.
Found 2 White's pairs my size on eBay store 'whitesriver'. I messaged asking about the insole length...
Speaking about moth protection.
I iron all my pea coats after receiving/inspecting them. It's supposed to kill eggs/larvae.
I store them in nylon clothes bags with some lavender(actual flowers) bags around. I'm not sure how effective this is in practice. I'd like to avoid chemical compounds due...
Hi,
I just returned from Ciney militaria fair in Belgium http://www.cineyexpo.be/agenda/evenement.php?id=288.
Few impressions:
- huge exhibition space, lost of sellers. Felt like a kid in a candy store.
- most were insignia and weapons: knives, swords, guns. There were even vintage barrel Colt...
I have a LW B-2 4oz size 42 ordered end of 2015. I confirm that the real shade of russet is chocolate brown. I wouldn't mind a redish/orange (redskin type).
Regarding the choice between lighter and heavier hh, I can say (based on my jacket) that the LW hh changed lately. It's bit more supple...
That coat is great but the price is ...whoaaaa. I guess maybe you can find a mint OG for half price(if not against wearing sh). Just as Buzz Rickson and USN pea coats.
Esp during the very cold days (below zero) I wear greatcoats. I have a vintage Russian one - royal blue, air force. It's a fantastic coat, dense and heavy wool. In case of blizzard you can close the lapels and it's perfect. I'd say it's warmer than my N-3B parka. One downside is that is heavy...
