Well said, Neil.
While not delving into the stratospheric range of pricing on Panama Hats, I have purchased quite a few from various auctions, retailers, and on-line vendors.
No on-line store is better than personal contact but some on-line stores/vendors are better than others.

Scott, You can often find grosgrain ribbon on ebay. It can also be purchased in shorter lengths and various widths at Farmhouse Fabrics online http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/sto...ids=0 .
Your Knox straw is a wonderful hat. If you ever decide to part ways with it, please let me know. :)
The body is good but the ribbon and crappy cotton sweatband were poorly attached (note wrinkle in ribbon) so I took them both off while waiting for a haircut. I'm thinking of putting in a grosgrain sweatband after reattaching the ribbon.
Borsalino Optimo from ebay with roses.
This hat was advertised as and came in a Borsalino box but there is no Borsalino labeling on the sweatband or the crown so I'm a bit skeptical.
However, it's a nice Optimo and it fits. [huh]
Atticus and St. Ignatz, You gents are looking good along...
