Respectfully, I'm going to push back a little on your premise that most brands fall very neatly into categories of "fashion" or "boutique" brands. Vanson and Schott regularly collaborate with Supreme. Johnson Leathers has collaborated with Junya Watanabe before. Some of Aero's most famous...
I think I read there was a connection on an older thread in this forum but it makes sense to me. LL Bean isn’t known for their leather jackets otherwise so I doubt they were made in Maine. The leather cuff protector is also a Golden Bear signature on their bomber and varsity jackets.
Just bought this unlabeled bomber jacket that based on the outline of the label, I'm almost positive is an LL Bean (I believe made by Golden Bear) shearling-lined goatskin jacket, especially with the leather cuff protectors. Hope it works out, I've always been a sucker for the civilian bomber...
Yeah it honestly looks too close to human skin for me. If you like it then don’t let me stop you from using it but I haven’t heard of pigskin having specific qualities that couldn’t be gotten from other hides.
I can’t speak too much for this jacket specifically because I’m not familiar with the brand but I wouldn’t be worried about suede bits getting all over your clothes. The Mister Freedom Campus is similarly unlined with the suede on the inside and the one I owned didn’t leave fibers on my clothes...
For anyone familiar with the LL Bean civilian bomber jackets, I've seen tags of theirs that have a lining of "Shearling Lambskin" or "Wool Pile" but haven't seen one with "100% Wool Shearling" before. I'm 90% sure that means the lining is wool pile but could anyone confirm? I usually associate...
My 2 cents: I know it was mentioned earlier but imo I usually opt for an N-1 if the temperature is cold enough. I have a mouton lined Dehen N-1 that has worn just fine in the single digits Fahrenheit. If you're really set on leather though, there are a couple nice leather N-1 jackets I can think...
I love the look of this but tbh I know nothing about Guideboat Co so it may not be that much of a deal at $1k

Not really a deal now but more like “Fair price” territory: Filson is doing a 30% discount on their roughout cruiser. Color looks different than last year’s and I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews though.

I bought this jacket last Fall and had some repairs/spot re-dying to the leather by Dena at Great Leather. Ultimately it had a tough time competing against my N-1 especially in wet weather so I ended up wearing it only a handful of times. The...

The Dehen N-1 is a killer jacket. With a sweater I’ve worn mine into the single digits Fahrenheit. The waxed shell has done great for me in all kinds of weather and the micro fleece in the pockets and sleeves are nice utilitarian touches. It’s one of the nicest jackets I own, leather or not, but...
